There is no linux distro that just loads permissions and mounts it like windows is there ?

Luke why won't you help ???

It doesn't matter which distro you use; in Linux, things work with permissions, in Windows they don't.

You have Debian... a really good distro. Take the video I sent you and mount the disk in a folder you created earlier in /mnt.

How exactly did you install Emby? If you used the .deb from the site it should just see the drive if you are able to access it from the desktop. If you installed it via an app store it gets a little trickier to mount a drive.

If you did .deb and you followed that video the person posted previously can you share your /etc/fstab? Do the command below and share the outpout.

cat /etc/fstab

debian@Debian:~$ cat /etc/fstab
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# systemd generates mount units based on this file, see systemd.mount(5).
# Please run 'systemctl daemon-reload' after making changes here.
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
# / was on /dev/sda2 during installation
UUID= xxxxx /               ext4    errors=remount-ro 0       1
# /boot/efi was on /dev/sda1 during installation
UUID= xxxxx  /boot/efi       vfat    umask=0077      0       1
# swap was on /dev/sda3 during installation
UUID= xxxxxxxx none            swap    sw              0       0

How about I plug in all my hard drives 15 hard drives and someone can remote in and format them and set everything to boot up on a reboot and I will pay you etransfer $150 usd. Then after it's all working I will pay you another $50 usd.

What happens if it works at first, when not.

I have a lot of hard drives mostly filled with coinops roms I bought from amazon and stuff can just be wiped I have 7 drives that are 26tb each the others are from 8 to 16tb. Mostly filled with games from ps5 and xbox series x that I can do without so if I have every drive plugged in I can slowly over time add my iso backups for emby.

Here's how to install it. Ubuntu will appear, which is the same as with Debian, but you can change it at the top and select Debian. It will then give you the installation instructions.

Then create a folder in your home directory or folder, and mount the disk in that folder. You won't need to set permissions there, but you do need to mount it so Emby can see it.

It's working now, so I paid $300 to have everything setup on another ip he included an emby password for life and now it works finally. He had me install the latest ubuntu and plugged all 15 hard drives in and on even a reboot the hard drives still show which is what I was worried about but it now works finally. He also istaalled a thing I'm not sure but it downloads shows when they come out or something I think. I just now need to figure out what this other stuff is he installed but it works.

Buddy told me to stop talking on here, can you please delete this entire post guys, thanks a bunch guys.

I don't know how to best say this but I hope "buddy" is a real friend. If not then talk to a real life friend or relative and explain to them what you've paid,  what the person did and maybe who they are.

Even if this ends up being a $300 life lesson it's better to be safe than sorry.

I hope everything goes well for you... but if you had waited, you could have saved that money... and as my friend said... no more trouble. Good luck.

I have a bad feeling about this

They'll help you in this forum... like some of us have been trying to do... and I'm telling you, they weren't going to charge you anything.

Paying someone online without knowing them at all... is very, very dangerous.

Anyway, I hope it goes well for you.

i unplugged my computer I watched him login to a website called hackforums I unplugged it I was scammed

Never pay anyone online, and especially never trust strangers. Forums are for sharing and helping each other altruistically.

Even the name of that website doesn't bode well.
