External subtitles not sent to external player

I'm rather new to Emby and have over the years used many other platforms for my movies and TV shows. I have to say that I'm really impressed with Emby.

However I have one serious problem that I don't seem to be able to fix.

I haven't been able to have Emby to bypass movies with Dolby Atmos and Vision to my Arcam Receiver so I'm using an external player. I have also had several problems with the synchronization of sound and picture using the internal player. All these works excellent with the external player I'm using.

Now to my problem. When I'm using an external player I haven't been able to find anyway to have Emby sending the subtitle to the external player - and I have tried many. Among the players I have installed are Kodi, mpv, Nova Video Player and VLC.

I'm using the Emby client on a R_volution PlayerPro 8K running Android 11. As a server I'm using a Apple Mac Mini with a M4 processor. The Mac Mini is using macOS Tahoe version 26.0.1. My movies are stored on a Synology NAS. The server version is 4.9.1.80 and the client is version 2.1.23g and I have lifetime licens of Emby Premiere.

I have named my movies according to the documentaiton as follows: "Movie Name.mkv" and the subtitle "Movie Name.sv.srt". The subtitles works fine using the internal Emby player but not on the external player.

In the logfile I can see information regarding Subtitle Services when using the internal player but nothing when using the external player.

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

Hi, I have now installed the version of Emby you suggested and it helped partly. Now I have two external players that works with external subtitles; mpv and MX Player. Unfortunately none of the works with Dolby Vision and Atmos.

The external player I would like to use is the DuneHD player included in the application R_video that was included in my hardware player from R_volution. But when using it no external subtitle is available.

Any suggestions?

All of this is specific to each player so we’d have to know how it expects them to be passed.

I'm not sure what you mean but I'll try to explain.

I would like Emby to bypass the audio without any transcoding to the external player and at the same time send information about the location and names of the external SRT-files for subtitles. Does this explain what I'm looking for?

I wonder if you can help me with another thing.

I first bought Emby Premiere for one month. Shortly after I bought the lifetime version.

Today I was charged for the monthly fee for another month. What do I need to do to stop that from happening again?

Hi.  You must have done this through PayPal.  There was a reminder in the email with your Lifetime key to be sure and cancel your recurring payment at PayPal (or a store if that's where you did it).

If you still cannot figure it out, just send and email to billingsupport@emby.media and they can help you.

Thanks, that helped. It was in Paypal I had to cancel the automatic payment.
