invader 17 Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 I’ve been watching movies and a TV show with the same format for a while. It’s recently started playing choppy. Looks like it’s playing with frames skipping. I saw in the Wiki (https://emby.media/support/articles/Apple-TV.html) it says: “If using h.265 make sure your videos are tagged as hcv1 and not as hev1.” I did this and it does fix it. I’m just wondering if there’s anything that can be done to not have to do this to all my files, they were working before. Also, if I change from MPV to NATIVE player, that also fixes the issue. There are other issues with the native player that make me want to use MPV if possible. Apple TV settings: Format: 4K SDR HDMI Output: YCbCr Chroma: 4:4:4 Match Content: Range & Frame Rate Emby App settings: Preferred Video Player: Auto Apple TV app Version: 2.0.1 (7) Emby server version: 4.9.1.80 Happy to provide serverlog, sample file and video recording of what the choppiness looks like if that’s helpful. Thanks in advance.
invader 17 Posted October 30, 2025 Author Posted October 30, 2025 Correction: tagging as hcv1 didn't fix it. What fixed it was turning off subtitles. They are the same text based .srt subtitles that used to work OK.
Luke 42077 Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

invader 17 Posted November 20, 2025 Author Posted November 20, 2025 Hi there. I just tried again and it seems to be with subtitles off too. Is there anything else I can provide to help? Thanks.
