Stranger7 0 Posted October 29, 2025 Posted October 29, 2025 Hello, I’m experiencing a complete freeze of the Emby macOS client on an Apple Silicon machine, even after a full clean reinstall. The issue persists regardless of configuration. System details Device: Mac Studio M4 (Apple Silicon – ARM64, running natively, not under Rosetta) macOS: 15.3.2 (24D2082 – Sequoia) Emby version: 2.2.39 (ARM64 build from the official Emby site) Symptoms The app launches normally, then completely freezes after a few seconds, either on the home screen or as soon as a video thumbnail appears. No crash dialog is displayed — the process Emby locks up the CPU at 100%. The only way to quit is via Force Quit. No meaningful crash report is generated in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/. Troubleshooting already performed Full removal of all user data and preferences: rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Emby rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/com.emby.media.plist rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/com.emby.media rm -rf ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/com.emby.media.savedState Clean reinstall of Emby 2.2.39 (ARM64) from the official site. Tested with fresh configuration and cache cleared. (I haven’t tested disabling hardware acceleration yet, nor tried with a new macOS user profile or the local Emby Server — can do that next if needed.) Some users mentioned that version 2.2.37 ARM64 was stable on Sequoia, but that build is no longer available on the download page. Questions Can you confirm this is a known compatibility issue under macOS 15.3.x (Sequoia)? Thanks in advance for any clarification or workaround you can share. Happy to provide a crash log or system trace if needed. Best regards,
