Slow Channel Launch and Zapping M3U

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Emby Premiere and currently running version 4.9.2.6 beta.

I’ve just installed M3UTuner (v1.0.41.0) — it works, but I’m noticing very slow channel startup and channel switching.

I also tried using HDHomeRun, but the same issue occurs — channel changes take several seconds.
With Tivimate, however, everything loads instantly, so it doesn’t seem to be a network or source issue.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Any suggestions or settings I could try to improve performance?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

I have the impression that it triggers some kind of transcoding — maybe that’s what’s slowing down the channel loading and zapping.

Hi, yes when there is transcoding it will cause the channels to take slightly longer to start.

I think regardless of transcoding emby does some probing of the stream before playing it to determine whether transcoding is necessary. This results in some delay in playback

Yes, but the problem is the same, even without transcoding.

ah yes it’s a real topic that dates back several years, I don’t understand why it’s blocking when it’s one of the reasons that drives us to take a subscription first
