xantari 7 Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 (edited) I've been using Emby for a few months now. Sometime within the last 2 weeks I can no longer play Trailers on my Nvidia Shield device. I tried reinstalling the Emby app on the shield but nothing works. Running the latest Emby Version 4.9.1.80 on Windows Server. The error I get is: "Video is unavailable. Error Code: 15" I enabled logging on the server and don't see anything related to Youtube. Kinda wondering if I am even posting the right place as it's starting to feel like this is a problem with the Android TV app on the Nvidia Shield Update: The video is unavailable. Error Code: 15 error happens on the Emby for Android TV App. When I try the Emby for Android app no error occurs and it just goes back to the screen where I can choose to play the movie or watch the trailer. I also enabled app logging on the Emby for Android app, restarted the app, and tried to repro the issue and no logs are generated. I checked if my Nvidia Shield has free space and it has about 4.5GB free. Update: Looks like i'm not the only one: Edited October 28, 2025 by xantari

xantari 7 Posted October 28, 2025 Author Posted October 28, 2025 Moved more details over to here as this thread seems more relevant to what i'm experiencing. 1
Vortex7 0 Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 I also have the same issue on multiple Nvidia Shields with the EMBY Android TV App - I have cleared the cache, reinstalled, rebooted, etc, with the same error 15 when YouTube loads. I tested the Android Universal app, which is designed for a phone and not a 10-foot from the screen experience, and the trailers work on the universal app. The TV app is a far better experience for a TV, and I'm wondering when this will be addressed. It's a recent fault that has started in the last few weeks.

visproduction 315 Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 Related? youtube updated it's player in October and some people are complaining about playback and security. Did youtube also adjust embedded playback links or start to block embedded playback? I did not find a direct comment on embedded playback at Google. Quite often Youtube changes some code and old playback links might need to be updated. Can someone check to see which versions of Emby still work for trailer playback and is 4.9.1.80 using a different link to retrieve the trailers? https://support.google.com/youtube/thread/380540176
Luke 42077 Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 @xantari @Vortex7 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.

Here is the screenshot when you type “emb”. if you fully type “Emby” the App Store immediately goes to “Emby for Android TV” and you miss out on the “Emby for Android” version 1
xantari 7 Posted November 13, 2025 Author Posted November 13, 2025 (edited) I wasn’t sure if you were asking for that screenshot. At any rate the Emby for android version is working great (solved the trailer playback issue) and I have uninstalled the TV version Edited November 13, 2025 by xantari 1
Adamaen2 2 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hello, Same problem here, trailers are not working, i don't know when it exactly starts, but it begins a few weeks ago. Latest version on docker 4.9.3.0, Nvidia shield TV with emby android TV. With the emby standard android app on the same device, trailers are working. It also works on my phone and on the web application. Still no workaround?

Adamaen2 2 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Hello, so i have installed the 2.1.31G emby android tv beta and trailers are working, thanks. Is the android TV version will be abandonned and i have to definetly switch to the android version? 1

Basically, the ATV app is being kept alive, and will only have monior updates. If you join the BETA piogram for it, you will still get updates as and when released. More information here. 1
