It is correct. Just verified the capabilities and rest assured it is accurately labeled that option. The other fps option requires a RokuTV model being detected. Then it would allow all framerates across everything to limit to 30fps. This is for those low power models under 43 inches. We don't automatically apply it, but the option is exposed when a RokuTV is detected. Roku set-top-boxes and sticks both convert everything to 60fps for output. It is only very low computing power TV which would get its Roku implementation limited in this way. It is always screens under 43 inches with RokuTV. @HappyGilmourChatGPT isn't smarter than we are. Not for a long time. Probably not even in our lifetime. It is hopelessly lost giving you all this advice that isn't solving the issue. It is having you totally re-encode the video so of course it will work. We want to know the root cause making the Roku not like the original media. If you can supply a sample video of the original TS file and/or the Emby converted file which doesn't play on the Roku it would be excellent. You can share with GoogleDrive, OneDrive, DropBox, or something. Would be very interesting in finding the actual cause of your issue. You can share a link with me or @ebrand we can get to the bottom of what is happening. Thanks. The reason ChatGPT isn't as smart is it hasn't coded an app. In fact I tried to get it to understand the nuances of brightscript and see if it could make something better for us. It failed miserably, wrote code that used syntax and functions not included with the Roku. It tries to mish-mosh code styles across different dialects of programming languages and just winds up being no smarter than a 5th grader. It cannot solve the worlds problems for us yet. It couldn't even generate a proper 9-patch image for me. Had to do it by hand the old school way. Same with Roku. The AI is not there yet to replace anything yet. It is actually less useful using it than just doing things yourself. It is fun. But do not take anything it gives as output as something to seriously consider without verifying that everything it has told you is accurate. Beware of taking any advice it gives as honest, thought-out, and knowledgeable truth. It is just mostly making guesses and piece together information. It isn't as smart as we are when it comes to problem solving. Not yet. Not ever probably. Edited December 29, 2025 by speechles
Luke 42077 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 So why isn’t the option exposed for him?
ebr 16168 Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 Yeah, ChatGPT has you on a Snipe hunt. I would stop using that On your built-in Roku TV is there an option to restrict all content to 30fps? If so, can you test that?

I’m a former programmer…now sys admin. I understand. I was just providing the 2 ffmpeg conversions as a possible starting point because one worked and one didn’t. My thinking was that it might provide a clue as to the source of the issue. Also, while the log I sent was from a Roku TV, I am experiencing the exact same issue on my Roku STB. If you need that exact model please let me know. I have a Dropbox account. Let me check and see if I can use that. Not sure of the size limits. Either way I will find a way to send you the original file. Thank you all for the help!

HappyGilmour 20 Posted December 31, 2025 Author Posted December 31, 2025 Hi, I sent a link to Speechles in a DM for the video. I didn't think it was appropriate to share to the entire forum. Thank you again for the help.

I should have time this afternoon to discover what is going on with this video and why it isn't playing. I will post back in this thread with what I've found. Thanks again for the sample. 1
speechles 2055 Posted January 1 Posted January 1 @HappyGilmourThank you very much for the sample. Have narrowed this down. Have the answer to the playback issue. We should be able to update the device profile to detect this automatically. You shouldn't have to do anything special for it to playback after that. Apologies this was even as issue.

ebr 16168 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 If I recall correctly, @speechlesmay have been a bit ambitious on what he thought could be detected in this case...

We can detect it. The issue isn't in the detection. The issue arises when trying to build the capabilities profile to pass to the server so it understands that limitation. I need to get together with @Luketo get this solved as this may require some updates to the server core to get certain fields exposed that are required to do this. It is on our issue tracker. It will get addressed eventually. Edited Saturday at 04:37 PM by speechles
