Emby with Tailscale

I don’t know if this is the right place or if a new thread should be created. I see it mentioned here so I will just continue.

I fully understand to not integrate tailscale in the server or the client. But is there any issues with adding support for it to the official EmbyServer docker?

My problem is that in the official EmbyServer docker HW acceleration works, but not tailscale.

In the binhex-emby docker in Unraid, tailscale works but not HW acceleration.

I know that there is a lot of workarounds that could be used, but I see benefits to have it all in one docker container.

Would this be possible?

@raptorjrHi, what do you mean by "add support" ? It's something you need to setup. We are not doing anything to prevent it.

@LukeThank you for your reply. I don’t have access to my computer right now so I can access the logs. But I will give you more information as soon as I have the possibility.

All I know is that when enabling tailscale support on a docker container in Unraid, the binhex-emby container works as expected, and the official EmbyServer container doesn’t.

But I will supply output from the logs and hopefully we can find a solution.

Thank you for your help.

Maybe the binhex container is supplying additional libraries or has something else preinstalled. Whatever that is, you'd have to setup manually in the emby container.

You may also want to try the LSIO container. I use that for all my docker services, if available, and HW acceleration works fine in my Emby instance with that. It also has an official Tailscale mod: https://github.com/tailscale-dev/docker-mod

Thank you, that was perfect!!! Both HW and tailscale. No need to make any changes to the official EmbyServer container then.
