Emby Server on Nvidia Shield Keeps Crashing

Recommended Posts

Hi I hope someone can help.

I have the emby server on my 2019 Nvidia Shield TV Pro.

I have the Emby app on my android phone and Google home TV.

Whenever I press play on a film the Emby server crashes/shutdown on the Nvidia Shield.

I've watched this in realtime having the Emby server screen open and it just crashed back to the Nvidia Shield home screen even when the theme music starts playing.

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

What other software is installed on the Shield?

I have Plex, that seems to work okay

All the other apps like netflix, Amazon prime, YouTube etc

You could try removing that.

It is likely that the OS is killing the server app to reduce resource consumption on the device. Removing other apps is something that can help with this.

I've uninstalled the Plex server and rebooted the Shield and still having the same issue

Also I quickly tested remotely using the website at work and it played okay however when doing the same with my android phone it again caused the server to crash

I am in same boat.  Got a new gaming laptop,  and it ran great on that.  Tried it on shield,  and it wouldn't keep running. Will purchase lifetime and kill plex if it can run smoothly off my shield.
