SRT with Native player?

Most of my media has been converted to MP4 with mov_text subs with subler in order to play with the native player. Though when I switch the subs to an external srt it switches to MPV.

 

With MPV the subs are huge and don’t respect the subtitle settings of the Apple TV and there is no options to change the styling like iOS.

 

Is it possible to enable srt playback on the Native player with MP4?(I thought the old plex app could do this with the native player)

Or is mpv subtitle styling on the horizon soon?

Side note on the Emby subtitle settings for iOS, the drop shadow setting seems to not change at all, I try to set it to none and it remains with a thick black outline.

Hi, I would say that we'd like to do both.

Ultimately, we should get the subtitle appearance settings into the app and have both players use them - emby subtitle settings, not apple tv subtitle settings.

But also, if we were to add our own srt rendering to the native player, then this would be a good way to keep as much playback on the native player as possible.

Just a suggestion, if you do change where the native player gets the subtitle settings from, I hope you could also leave the styling of the subtitles as apple has it. I personally think the native player style subs are the cleanest looking.

Well we can't have our own subtitle settings and then have them not work because they are being overridden by system styles. You will just have to configure them in our app once we have that.
