tree2369 16 Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 (edited) Most of my media has been converted to MP4 with mov_text subs with subler in order to play with the native player. Though when I switch the subs to an external srt it switches to MPV. With MPV the subs are huge and don’t respect the subtitle settings of the Apple TV and there is no options to change the styling like iOS. Is it possible to enable srt playback on the Native player with MP4?(I thought the old plex app could do this with the native player) Or is mpv subtitle styling on the horizon soon? Side note on the Emby subtitle settings for iOS, the drop shadow setting seems to not change at all, I try to set it to none and it remains with a thick black outline. Luke 42077 Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 Hi, I would say that we'd like to do both. Ultimately, we should get the subtitle appearance settings into the app and have both players use them - emby subtitle settings, not apple tv subtitle settings. But also, if we were to add our own srt rendering to the native player, then this would be a good way to keep as much playback on the native player as possible. 1
tree2369 16 Posted October 24, 2025 Author Posted October 24, 2025 Okay cool, thanks for the info. Just a suggestion, if you do change where the native player gets the subtitle settings from, I hope you could also leave the styling of the subtitles as apple has it. I personally think the native player style subs are the cleanest looking. The pics below are the 2 players on iOS with the ‘same’ settings. So was hoping the native could stay
