Guest Posted October 18, 2025 Posted October 18, 2025 After the ridiculous Plex business-model shift I was thrilled to find Emby. There are some features I wish were available (a working 'skip into' and 'skip credits, for example) but generally find it very pleasant to use. That said, I'm running into a problem using on my Roku Ultra. After watching for a bit (maybe 5 min, maybe 2 hrs) the video freezes for a couple minutes and then a red Time Out error pops up. What is happening is the network connection (wired) drops completely on the Roku.and only reconnects after restarting the Roku or navigating to the Check Connection screen and running it. File types are almost strictly x264, but it seems to happen with x265, as well, I have tried restarting both the server and Roku, and clearing the local server cache and restarting the Roku and server. Both seemed to lengthen the time before failure somewhat, but neither provided an ongoing solution. Thanks in advance for any help or direction!

The Roku does allow for the "Skip Intro" but the "Skip Credits" is not implemented because the server core was not tracking credits at the time that was implemeted. @LukeDoes the server create markers for the credits begin and end? If so we can probably get this into the Roku app as it can use the same functionality as the present Skip Intro function with just a few changes. @kerry@cantonweb.com That thread will give you some insight into how this has evolved. It might be possible to do, but it needs more than the third party plugin to devote time to adding it into the Roku. This is why I am waiting for Luke to reply to make sure we can devote time to it in the present. 4 hours ago, kerry@cantonweb.com said: That said, I'm running into a problem using on my Roku Ultra. There should be some reason showing in the Emby Server log what happened. If you share the log we should be able to determine what is happening. Edited October 18, 2025 by speechles
Luke 42077 Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 Quote Does the server create markers for the credits begin and end? No, not yet.
ebr 16169 Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 Hi. I would suggest trying a wireless connection instead of wired. It may actually end up more reliable and faster. 1
