BrianG44 1 Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 I currently have Emby server running on a Win10 box and it has worked exactly as it should for a long time (since around the MediaBrowser days). Now that Win10 is out of support, I want to migrate everything over to Linux Mint. Is there a way to export the current server settings and import them into the new server? I know there will be some differences (like disk mount points and paths) that will change, but I'd like to simplify this as much as possible. I started taking screenshots of all the admin settings but that is getting out of hand and is really clunky.

Backup & Restore plugin - not sure how well it'll work for cross-platform restore (though I suppose it should cover majority of settings): Backup & Restore
Neminem 1518 Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 I think opp will need to add new paths to librarys Since windows c:\path to media\movies\movie\file and linux mount/path to media/movies/movie/file and delete the ones from windows. There might be other things that would break due to path change.
BrianG44 1 Posted October 17, 2025 Author Posted October 17, 2025 Thanks. I plan to tackle the project this weekend, so I'll let you know. I have a new SSD for the OS drive, so if things really go off the rails, I can at least pop the old drive back in until I sort things out. BTW, I did try searching the knowledge base, but guess I should have used "backup restore" instead of "export settings".

howllor 26 Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 Following this thread since I'm about to do exactly the same thing soon
Luke 42077 Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 HI, yes please follow this: Backup & Restore
BrianG44 1 Posted October 18, 2025 Author Posted October 18, 2025 OK, so I used the backup and restore feature, and it worked pretty well. Of course there was a lot of drive mapping I had to update for libraries, caches, etc. Then there were some other things I wanted to change, so I don't know; I think if I was to do it all over again, I'd just set it up from scratch. 1
