Disable plugin auto update?

How can I disable automatic plugin updates? I can disable auto-restart to prevent them from being applied but I cannot find a way to prevent them from being installed.

The vast majority of plugin updates are simply compatibility updates for newer server versions. If you're not getting those updates then you're just going to end up coming in here needing help due to things not working and we simply don't have the bandwidth to handle all of that troubleshooting.

Do plugins have access to any privileged resources? If so, a compromise of even a long-time trusted plugin could provide a malicious actor with access to the server.
