lly451725563 0 Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 Hello Emby Team, I updated my Emby Server (on macOS) today from the previous version to 4.9.1.80. After the update, I encountered a bug: the .ignorefiles, which are used to exclude folders, are no longer functioning. Problem Description: I have several folders within my library directories that contain special features/extras. To prevent Emby from scanning these into my library, I have placed an empty file named .ignorein each such folder (as per the official Emby documentation). This method worked perfectly prior to version 4.9.1.80. However, after this update, all these folders containing the .ignorefiles have been scanned and added to my library. This has caused my library to become very messy, cluttered with a lot of unwanted content. My Environment: Emby Server Version: 4.9.1.80 Operating System: macOS 26.0.1 Installation Type: Native .app installation Troubleshooting Steps I've Tried: Confirmed that the .ignorefile exists and is named correctly (including the leading dot). Restarted the Emby Server. Deleted the affected folders, recreated them and the .ignorefile, and rescanned. The issue persisted. Checked folder and file permissions, and found no issues. This issue significantly impacts the organization and usability of my media library. Given that the same library structure and .ignorefile configuration worked perfectly before the update, I strongly suspect this is a regression (bug) introduced in version 4.9.1.80. Could the development team please investigate this issue? Please let me know if you need any additional information from me. Thank you for your hard work!

Luke 42077 Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 @lly451725563apologies for the disruption. Your ignore files need to be changed to the new convention but what you'll have going forward is something that is more flexible than ever before.
