RustyBike 12 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Hi, I'm not sure what happened. I was logged into Emby remotely (The server is up at my step-mom's place) and it stopped responding while I was fixing a lookup for her (show/movie had the wrong info). I called her and had her reboot the Nvidia Shield Emby is installed on. Now though, I added two new items (completely new shows/movies) and they're visible in Emby, but don't have any metadata, I can edit the metadata it seems, but when I go to edit the images, it gives me the error in the screenshot (see attachments). Now when the database/library update runs, it doesn't detect the other episodes I added. I also tried removing them/deleting them and readding them. This just happened within the last couple of hours. I'm also using an older beta version and I'm hoping things are fixable. Since I setup the server up at my step-mom's place, I can't easily update the server remotely or restart the server without calling her. I'd tried rebooting the server already with her, but the same things happen. The only other thing I can think to try is to go up to her place and update Emby to a newer version and hope that somehow fixes things.

RustyBike 12 Posted October 15, 2025 Author Posted October 15, 2025 Hi Luke I will try that and report back 1
RustyBike 12 Posted October 23, 2025 Author Posted October 23, 2025 Hi Luke I updated the server and the detection of new things added is working again When I go to edit Images, it brings up the proper screen now, so that's fixed too The only issue I see now is the Refresh Users error in the Alerts.

Thanks.
RustyBike 12 Posted October 23, 2025 Author Posted October 23, 2025 Hi Luke I included the embyserver.txt log file for the 23rd (today), so hopefully the Refresh Users Failed event is in there. If you like though, I can download the logs for those previous days too if you think it'll help (they were on the old version of Emby I was running) I finally updated to the new version today. I clicked on the i on the side of the 23rd one and it shows this information: 10/23/25, 12:47 AM Could not resolve type with token 01000065 from typeref (expected class 'MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.IHasSupportedExternalIdentifiers' in assembly 'MediaBrowser.Controller, Version=4.8.11.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null') assembly:MediaBrowser.Controller, Version=4.8.11.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null type:MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.IHasSupportedExternalIdentifiers member:(null) at Emby.Providers.Manager.ProviderManager.CanRefresh (MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.IImageProvider provider, MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.BaseItem item, MediaBrowser.Model.Configuration.LibraryOptions libraryOptions, MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.ImageRefreshOptions refreshOptions, System.Boolean ignoreMetadataLock, System.Boolean ignoreLibraryOptions) [0x00033] in <314f910e33874571b0bf3c515dedf0a7>:0 at Emby.Providers.Manager.ProviderManager+<>c__DisplayClass44_0.b__0 (MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.IImageProvider i) [0x00000] in <314f910e33874571b0bf3c515dedf0a7>:0 at System.Linq.Enumerable+WhereArrayIterator`1[TSource].ToArray () [0x00022] in <2588046b51864568a5990ea49339a193>:0 at System.Linq.Buffer`1[TElement]..ctor (System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[T] source) [0x0000a] in <2588046b51864568a5990ea49339a193>:0 at System.Linq.OrderedEnumerable`1[TElement].ToArray () [0x00000] in <2588046b51864568a5990ea49339a193>:0 at System.Linq.Enumerable.ToArray[TSource] (System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[T] source) [0x0001f] in <2588046b51864568a5990ea49339a193>:0 at Emby.Providers.Manager.MetadataService`2[TItemType,TIdType].RefreshMetadata (MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.BaseItem item, MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.MetadataRefreshOptions refreshOptions, MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.BaseItem[] collectionFolders, MediaBrowser.Model.Configuration.LibraryOptions libraryOptions, System.Threading.CancellationToken cancellationToken) [0x00297] in <314f910e33874571b0bf3c515dedf0a7>:0 at MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.BaseItem.RefreshMetadata (MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.MetadataRefreshOptions options, MediaBrowser.Controller.Entities.BaseItem[] collectionFolders, MediaBrowser.Model.Configuration.LibraryOptions libraryOptions, System.Threading.CancellationToken cancellationToken) [0x00093] in :0 at Emby.Server.Implementations.EntryPoints.RefreshUsersMetadata.Execute (System.Threading.CancellationToken cancellationToken, System.IProgress`1[T] progress) [0x000bb] in <8bd2bb5f77514a08a9b6823c976d37a6>:0 at Emby.Server.Implementations.ScheduledTasks.ScheduledTaskWorker.ExecuteInternal (MediaBrowser.Model.Tasks.TaskOptions options) [0x00258] in <8bd2bb5f77514a08a9b6823c976d37a6>:0 Oh wait, maybe it's not doing the error anymore. I just realized that before I updated the Emby Server, I did update the Nvidia Shield and rebooted it and maybe that Refresh User error is from the old version of Emby Server starting back up again after the Nvidia Shield booted back up. Then I updated the Emby Server, so maybe the Refresh Users error is fixed too. I'll wait a day or two and see if the Refresh Users error continues and report back.
Luke 42077 Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 It's not in that log, however the log does have lots of errors like this: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '/storage/F2263D17263CDE73' is denied. That could cause any number of problems.
RustyBike 12 Posted October 23, 2025 Author Posted October 23, 2025 I'll see if the Refresh Users error continues, I think updating Emby to a newer version like you said fixed that error as well and the Refresh Users error on the 23rd (today) is from when the Emby Server restarted when I rebooted the Nvidia Shield (before I updated to the newer version). I'll also check the logs over the next couple of days to see if that "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '/storage/F2263D17263CDE73' is denied." continues My guess is that things are fixed now and I was mistaken about the Refresh Users error not being fixed, but of course I'll let you know if not
RustyBike 12 Posted October 26, 2025 Author Posted October 26, 2025 Hi Luke Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I wanted to give the server a few days before selecting the Solution. The Refresh Users error hasn't come back since I updated the Emby Server like you suggested While I'm not sure why the server stopped working all of a sudden, it seems the issue was fixed by updating Emby. While I don't know this for certain, I believe the System.UnauthorizedAccessException: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '/storage/F2263D17263CDE73' is denied. from the 23rd date log was because I had updated the Nvidia Shield OS and it wanted me to approve the permissions again, but the server started before the prompts came up. To give more possible evidence to that, that specific error was because of the Nvidia Shield OS update, I looked at a 22nd date log and searched for the word access and there weren't any of those issues present in the log (despite Emby still not working). Of course, I could still be wrong and not understanding things Here is my 22nd date log if you're interested, oh and I noticed in it, that certain private information in it is not being obscured as well. Perhaps my old version of Emby Server came out before you guys implemented that feature when posting logs. Any who, thank you for your help in troubleshooting
Luke 42077 Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Hi, this log is from a very old beta release. The first thing I would suggest is updating to the latest build and then let's go from there.
RustyBike 12 Posted October 27, 2025 Author Posted October 27, 2025 No worries Luke My issues were already solved by updating to the newest beta as per your suggestion I've marked the solution in the thread Quick question about the logs I've posted in this thread: Do only you guys (admins) and myself can download the files attached to the posts and not just any user that has an account on the forums (since they can contain personal/private information)? @Abobader 1
RustyBike 12 Posted October 29, 2025 Author Posted October 29, 2025 Hi I noticed an @Abobader attached to the end of my last message, does that mean I'm supposed to message them about my question? I also noticed the following on my server and am worried that the logs I posted are public to those that have an account on the forums and are trying to login to my server.
RustyBike 12 Posted October 29, 2025 Author Posted October 29, 2025 I'll head up to my step-mom's place tomorrow to beef up the security of the server.
RustyBike 12 Posted October 29, 2025 Author Posted October 29, 2025 Hey Guys I saw the post that is locked titled "Possible Remote Access Exploit Deleting Media on Emby Servers" and had a handful of attempts from the IP address in the log attached to this post and in the screenshot in the post above. Based on what you guys said in the thread, it seems it's not an Emby Server issue. So, the attempts made on my server earlier today is probably just coincidence, but I wanted to give you my logs in case they'll show something useful to you guys. This is the very first time I've had Failed Login attempts on my server since I started using Emby. In any case though, I plan on going up to my step-mom's place to change the default port number for the server and I'm going to restrict which IPs can connect to the server as well. embyserver.txt
Luke 42077 Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Hi, logs are anonymized assuming you got them from the web interface. But just in case I went ahead and deleted them. So from your screenshot, yes it does look like someone is trying to login to your emby server. What I would immediately suggest doing is changing your public facing router port to be something different than the default 8096. They doesn't guarantee they won't find the server again, for example if they were to use a port scanner then they could find the new port. But there's also a chance they will just go away after doing that. 1
RustyBike 12 Posted October 30, 2025 Author Posted October 30, 2025 Hi Luke I did get the logs from the web interface, yeah. I just wasn't sure if my earlier logs from the older beta were anonymized or not Thank you for deleting those for me Will do about the port and I also saw there was a Whitelist IP option in Network too that I can use, so I Whitelisted my IP since I remote into the server. I messaged Abobader about a separate question, so I'll wait to hear from them instead of asking you here Thanks again for all your help 1
