Problem with androidtv homescreen not showing synopsis

I just had to clear out my library and now the background of the home screen isn't showing correctly. For some reason it now shows either TV Shows or Movies when hovering the tvshows or movies library at the top of the screen rather then the synopsis of the displayed background wallpaper. And the two libraries no longer show the relevant labels. Not sure if this is a server side option that I've missed? Tried wiping data of the app, but didnt help. Also shows the same issue when on my android tablet using the tv mode on it.

That is (unfortunately) the new UI design.

You should've seen how it looked when there was no backdrop of any kind, just blank gray space, between the previous iteration and current one.

I wouldn't get my hopes too high up that it will... though one never knows. But the Dev's not particularly fond of it.

Hi, for now this is deactivated because it was just a random item from the library. To be honest, should have never been done this way. When the movies library is highlighted it is not very user friendly to have the title on the screen be something else than what is selected.

What I do think makes sense though is to use a random backdrop. I think that will look nice.

@Lukecan we please have the synopsis back.

I totally don't get removing this design element without just putting an option to disable it and leave a giant blank unfinished spot with the folder text in a completely wrong position.

@LukePlease reinstate this as it just looks wrong. If a redesign is on the cards then having options is a better setup. Or even getting options to allow custom skins (similar to jellyfin) would be better.

Its odd that when I check out jellyfin every once in a while I really find that their progress in development being impressive with opening up the system to allow custom plugins, etc. I still prefer using Emby way more - and I champion it more than jellyfin due to its design and simplicity, but I do envy many of their customisations and external app ecosystem. I really very much envy their gesture controls for brightness/volume.

Hi, yes more options are certainly possible. Thanks.

Maybe because some settings are specific to the device's capabilities.   But, generally, I understand with your thought.

don't even ask me stupid questions like "why do you think that"

Copy that!

But no need to be calling people you don't know "weirdos'.

Also, IMHO, the reason why the title and year is set to default showing can be illustrated in the first image at the top. I have no idea what the name of the movie in the image refers to (never mind the stupid half screen display)). Likewise its perfectly possible to have movie posters with no name on them (think I've seen whole collections of posters created, one version with a name, one without).

People like Netflix, Disney etc no doubt create their own posters complete with name.

Also, several members of my family keep on using my account even though they've got their own so if I add stuff with no name on the poster and no name underneath its just not so convenient.
