GloverEggs 9 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 I have 20 videos from a recent trip that I'm trying to get to play on Emby on my LG TV. They play great through Emby on my laptop. Smooth. On my cellphone they tend to start and stop which I assume is due to the internet and not the Emby app. On the LG TV, I click play and I get a working circle for a moment and then the screen goes black. It doesn't do anything after that. So, I'm wondering if I have something set up incorrectly or if something else is going on. I'm on Emby 4.9.2.3. The videos were recorded on a cell phone and are in mp4 format. I'm just wondering why the files won't play on the TV. I know LG has issues with 4k videos at times, but these are in stereo only and don't have subtitles. I assume that the issue is with the transcoding which is why I assume I have something set incorrectly. Any help is appreciated. Thank you! ffmpeg-transcode-75204d90-0574-47b1-af86-5a06d19c4793_1.txtembyserver.txt On a separate subject, is there a way to clear the main log file. Mine's up to almost 18MB which seems huge. But maybe that's the way it needs to be.
visproduction 315 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 LG TV's support different video and audio codecs, depending on the model. For example: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-tv-supported-video-codecs-for-connected-usb-devices--20153095976198 Ideally, Emby should test and see if the LG TV plays correctly and if not, Emby with a license should begin transcoding to provide the TV with video and audio that it can play. I think part of the issue is that every TV model has a different group of video and audio that it supports. Even models released the same year, might support different video and audio codecs. My guess is that the return data from the TV informing Emby to start transcoding may cause an issue, or the fact that there are perhpas over 100 LG recent TV models causes some issue. I don't know how the transcoding is triggered. Perhaps someone else has more detailed information.

If the speed is less than 1.0x then it is transcoding at a rate that is too slow for playback. Edited October 15, 2025 by SamES 2
Luke 42077 Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 @GloverEggsdoes this help? You could use Emby Server's convert media feature to convert the media to more streaming friendly formats: Convert Media
