CatMan7 4 Posted October 14, 2025 Author Posted October 14, 2025 ADDENDUM: With Local playback of media in the browser (FireFox) the Video Chapters work just fine (Not embedded video ones, just the Emby Server ones) However with DLNA playback on my TV set, the Chapter Buttons do nothing at all I Hope you can sort it out
Luke 42077 Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 @CatMan7 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

DLNA - Enable DLNA debug logging: Ticked ON I created a brand new User Account on my PC I then created a Brand new User Account for Emby Server I then added 1 folder that has only .MP4 (H.264) media video files in it I then played a bit of that media via DLNA to my Sharp Aquos TV Then in my PC's firefox browser in emby server I clicked on the REW Back 10 Sec button - nothing happened I clicked on it 3 times - still nothing, the video just kept playing as normal - Emby Server did not (at least visually) appear to notice or react to the fact that i clicked on the REW Back 10 Sec button (apart from the obvious button lighting up when i clicked on it) I pressed the FF 10 Sec button - same thing as above EMBY SERVER LOG PROVIDED: embyserver.txt Edited October 14, 2025 by CatMan7
Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 So you're just playing a basic mp4 on the sharp?
Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Quote Then in my PC's firefox browser in emby server I clicked on the REW Back 10 Sec button - nothing happened What if you try to do the same thing directly on the sharp?
CatMan7 4 Posted October 16, 2025 Author Posted October 16, 2025 Yes, just a normal boring standard MP4 video file My TV set's remote control does not have buttons for REW/FF 10 Seconds Im using an old programmable remote control for my TV set - it also does not have any such REW/FF 10 Seconds features But for the record - my mums TV with Google Chrome Cast works perfectly with Embys REW/FF 10 Seconds buttons (I used the android client app) Playback was fast and immediate
Luke 42077 Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 OK yea that's odd. With Dlna I can see we went the command to the sharp but then it looks like it just didn't respond to it. What model Sharp is it?
Luke 42077 Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 7 hours ago, CatMan7 said: Sharp Aquos 52LE840x OK this TV dates back to at least 2013. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the issue is, and I would probably need a sharp of a similar age in order to get the bottom of it. Maybe there are some older versions of the dlna/upnp protocols that we're not supporting, but then again I have a 2014 Samsung that I do test dlna with pretty frequently. There could also be some Sharp-specific considerations which we don't know until we actually get our hands on one ourselves. So now that you've discovered using chromecast instead, why not just do that? It is a much more modern protocol. 1
CatMan7 4 Posted October 18, 2025 Author Posted October 18, 2025 Fair enough i suppose Ok, i will consider getting a chrome cast Just note, that i personally hate google, and i dont trust them around privacy at all I would want the google chrome cast to be blocked from 'internet' access - as they might try to send data back to their own servers about my usage I dont mind the nice pictures that google puts on one screen DLNA was around way before the invention of the google chrome cast, something most people dont know about - i like it I will try and see if this Android box i have that is connected to my TV set can be used instead for now Thanks for your time 1
CatMan7 4 Posted October 18, 2025 Author Posted October 18, 2025 Solution for me has been found: Im able to use my Android Box connected to my TV via HDMI cable I installed the Emby app on the android box I can cast directly to the Emby App on the Android Box and i can succesfully use the emby REW/FF 10 Seconds functions both from my PC's browser and also the Emby client app I can also optionally use the android app Nova Player on the android box to access all my media via DLNA as well "Emby Server - Live Long and Prosper" 1
