emby-newb 2 Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 (edited) Hey guys, read many threads on metadata and most say to just refresh it. My situation is this. I have multiple copies of star wars (despecialized editions, 4K project editions, GOUT, etc) and the metadata and file images (movie posters) are messed up upon initial scan. So I went to IMDB, copied the IMDB Id from each one, and pasted it on each corresponding movie, then added the corresponding film images. So grabbed the IMDB ID for "a new hope", copied it on all versions of "a new hope", then grabbed different posters for each one (theatrical, despecialized, etc) and added them to each version of "a new hope", along with changing titles, etc. Rinse and repeat for all 6 (starting a war now) BECAUSE THERE ARE NO SEQUELS, NO SUCH THINGS EXIST. Anywho, after doing so for return of the jedi, they completely disappeared. The MKV files are there on my NAS (truenas running latest version, as well as latest version of emby). Tried doing the "refresh metadata" and "scan library files", but they dont appear. What are my options to get them back? The only movies being affected are return of the jedi (all 4 versions, my shrink says I have a problem...), all other movies (not just star wars) have been updated successfully using the above. Thanks! Edited October 13, 2025 by emby-newb added tags
Luke 42077 Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 HI, they probably got merged together. Do you see a version selection dropdown box on the detail screen?

Hey Luke, no I dont see them at all, they dont appear on the menu. So no way for me to select a version

I havent attached the nas to the emby or kodi clients on my shieldtv yet. I annotated in italics caps the versions of SW seen on emby. Hope this helps
Luke 42077 Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 So if you click on episode 5, then what do you see?

Luke 42077 Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 OK. It's there somewhere. What you might want to try is enabling table view and enable the file name column and see if you're able to locate it that way. And obviously it should go without saying to check your user parental controls to make sure you don't have anything restricting it.

Thanks for the help, followed your suggestions, and they still dont show up. I'm tempted to blow away the entire library and let it rescan
Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Did you try clicking on all the star wars movies? most likely the ones you can't find are being grouped as multi-version with another one.

I did yes, I do appreciate the help but dont think I can fix this without nuking the library.
Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Try using the new duplicates filter on the library and see if that turns up anything.
emby-newb 2 Posted October 18, 2025 Author Posted October 18, 2025 Hey Luke, didnt work. I ended up nuking the library and rescanning. Thanks for your help!
