TheGru 143 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 Anyway to make the app compatible with my 2025 Ford Expedition?
Luke 42077 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
TheGru 143 Posted October 12, 2025 Author Posted October 12, 2025 Neither Emby for Android or Emby for Android tv will install to the Ford system. Both show not compatible.
Luke 42077 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 That’s really odd because Emby for android supports Android auto.
TheGru 143 Posted October 12, 2025 Author Posted October 12, 2025 This is the new Ford Digital Experience system. It’s running Android 12. it’s not a big deal, just figured I would ask. I’d try to sideload it but I’ve only had the vehicle since Tuesday and I rather not monkey with it too much.
TheGru 143 Posted October 12, 2025 Author Posted October 12, 2025 I’ll check next time I am in the vehicle. If I search on the play store app directly in the vehicle Emby is not even found.
TheGru 143 Posted October 12, 2025 Author Posted October 12, 2025 Here is all the information from the Vehicle.
TheGru 143 Posted October 12, 2025 Author Posted October 12, 2025 @Lukelet me know if there is any other information I can provide. No worries if this is never going to work. thanks for investigating.
ebr 16169 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 Yes, that would be Android Automotive where the app runs on the actual car system as opposed to just mirroring from your phone.

That is fascinating, I didn't know that was an option. I like that better than the phone mirror setup. However, that also lets the manufacturer decide what they will allow to be installed. Then there is all of the data aggregation from the automobile itself, which is creepy in the extreme. And of course the data sharing that the manufacture probably agreed to with Google. To get Emby on there, you might be able to enable developer options and allow sideloading, but it's been so long since I have used a version of android that wasn't a 3rd party ROM.
