pgriffith 88 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 Hi all I have the latest 2.234.2.0 running on a very clean Windows 11 24H2 install (clean as in it's only got Emby on it) running on an Intel NUC PC with a Core i3 4010U & 8GB RAM, runs great as long as I avoid any 4k stuff. The problem is when I start the app it loads the animated splash screen, then goes to the Emby logo on the black background and then closes after a few seconds, no error, just closes. I then start it again and it starts as you would expect. This happens EVERY time, always on the 2nd start. Attached are fresh logs after doing that process, and the server log. This PC is connected via WiFI normally, but I have also tried wired with a GB connection and the same thing happens. I have to do this all the time as per a previous post I made, Emby doesn't refresh itself while running 24/7, so the home screen, Latest Media, Up Next etc gets out of date. I then start it again and it starts as you would expect. None of what the others have said applies here. The other conversation is about the app hanging on startup, but not self-closing. Yours is a fully original case that I've never seen before, because the core app code is first checking whether the Exit feature is available and then invokes it. How do you connect to the server - via IP or host name? Is the IP varying between launches? Or is the IP address different from the one that the server is showing on the dashboard? How do you log in - via username and password or differently? Thanks
pwhodges 2012 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 I have also seen that behaviour, but (I think) only once. Generally I just get the hang (before the animation or after, I've seen both), and this almost always at the first run after rebooting Windows. Paul

Another issue : sometimes Emby crashes after launch and i had to start it again; and sometimes it crashes again...before i can launch it at third attempt. Another well known issue : sometimes Emby is stucked on Emby logo on dark background. I've to kill the app and start it again.
pgriffith 88 Posted October 21, 2025 Author Posted October 21, 2025 @softworkz I've uninstalled and reinstalled and so far that seems to have fixed the problem. All the time I've started it it's worked first time. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know if it reverts to having to do it twice. 1 1

Download: https://github.com/EmbySupport/Emby.WMC.UI/releases/tag/2.234.0.0-Beta This is mostly the same app as the regular Windows app, just with a different UI. There's an update coming for this app which tries out some runtime updates which will get into the Windows app later. But first of all, we need to know whether you'll see the same issues with the WMC UI app (if not, this would also be helpful). Thanks
