folders discovery not fully functional

Hello Luke:

Please moderator, move my first post to this area since it is Ubuntu related issue.

Your response was quick very impressive.

I tried to reply, your server was not responding, so I gave up.

I own all folders, no issues with permissions.

64 drives with some drives automounted at boot up time.

Emby server auto discovers all drives that are mounted automatically at boot up time.

When I tried to select  drives and folders, that are not automounted, it will bring up Google password manager screen.. it should not do this.

Emby will pop up 'Path not found' error message.

My path is /media/george.

Emby server will display message "Access Denied", but I owned these drives and folders.

All I want Emby to do is let me have access to all driuves and use Nautilus style browsing.

Please help.

I am attaching a log.embyserver.txtembyserver.txt

Can you also show a screenshot example of this? Thanks.

OK , and what about when you saw access denied?

More screenshot to show all the "mnt", and none "mnt" folders. These are all located underneath /media/george.

Emby should not be asking for permission at all. I owned them. Remember Nautilus does not complain.

These are my media libraries with mkvs ripped, managed and curated    .

Emby thinks that I am just creatring the folders, or does not see that I am the admin that has rights to all folders.

In the case of drives and folders mounted at  boot up time, Emby does not ask for permissions.

Is something wrong with your forum server?

732 kb screenshot could not upload yesterday.

I woke up this A.M to try to resend, it is taking more than two hours, still trying  to upload.

Thanks.

George

Right but these are screens of your folders. how does that lead to an access denied error in Emby? I was hoping to see a screenshot of that as well as the log file from it. I didn't see that in your first log file. Thanks.

Hello Luke:

I am very sorry for the extreme late response.

Ubuntu 25.10 created all sorts of issues,  from hardware not installing because of no more support to other issues. My ubuntu was down, I had to wipe out the entire install more than 3 times, then I decided to take a rest because of frustration.

Today, I got back to my system very excited.

I used the cli to solve the permission issues, that I have reported to you before.

I am now able to see lots of folders for my media .

At the moment, I am scanning my audio. I have about 670 cds and it is taking more than 3 hours to scan.

It is at 93% at the moment ,really slow. Is this normal ? It has been at this 93% for more than 1 hour.

I have 128 gig of ram, on my system, on Asus mobo X99A

Should I cancel and start all over ?

I do not know how long fast it will  take to finish scanning the flacs..

I am very worried, when it comes to scanning movies in almost 65 drives, with over 5000 mkvs, how long it should take.

Any suggestions as to setting adjustment on how to make the scanning go faster ?

If I can get this to scan faster and without issues, I should be able to sign up for Emby's Premiere level by 11/13/2025.

Thanks for all your help.

turn off any extra features like intro/credit, chapters, and thumbnails and the scans should not be too bad. still would take a several hours most likely.

Hello:

I had to restart the server after waiting for a long time. Then I began another scanning process. Quickly, it got to about 90%, then slowed down. I left, but it did finally process the cd folder.

When I tried to test the one minute playback, it says no styreaming device found. Is it because I am no Premiere member ?

Then I got brave, tried to scan the mkvs or movies folders. I found out, I have to do this one by one.

I have over 60 drives, with folders and sub folder. I am unable to manually key in these.

Anyway the  Software engineering group can give us an upgrade to use Nautilus style file browsing and selection ?

This will be an intuitive method to select files.

I am itching or rather my fingers are itching to sign up for the Premiere level, but at this moment, the folders and sub folders features are not user friendly at all.

As I wrote before, two reasons to have Emby, one as a secondary media server, and secondly, to use the emby client in Zidoo appliances to connect to my Jriver server.

Thanks.

We really need to know what the exact message was and look at a specific example:

Thanks.

Hello:

Here is the exact error I got when trying to play a flac for 1 minute:

NO compatible streams are currently available   ,contact your system adminstrator.

It looks like Emby server is crippled.

Why not let someone test for two weeks, full feature and or test each play for 5 minutes.

I minute may not be enough to even load the driver or opening screen.

When I am able to load my video folders, how am i going to test ,because movies take a long time to load.

Will there be an update as to this folder selecting feature ?

Thanks.

@ekpen this is an error that needs looking into. It is not related to Emby premiere.
