I need a bit of help with the TV naming

Hello, I'm a former Jellyfin user and I wanted to try Emby, but I'm having a small issue with video files labelled as 'extras'.
I often have a folder called 'Extras' inside my 'Season' folder, as shown in this picture.

The episodes are in the season folder. Inside the extras folder are a bunch of interviews, creditless openings, etc.
On Jellyfin, this folder is essentially a dump folder. Everything inside it appears in a small section at the bottom of the page, and that's it.
However, with Emby, the files appear alongside the episodes.
It's making the interface a bit bloated and instead of having an indicator saying I have 12 episodes to watch, I have one with 30.

Is it possible to mimic the way Jellyfin works without having to change all my file structure?

Hi there, how are your files named and organized?

Inside the extras folder? It's kind of chaotic. There are also pictures of the booklet, Blu-ray audio menus, etc. That's why the "extras folders" were usefull with jellyfin.
You didn't have to bother; just dump everything there and forget about it.

If it's not possible to reproduce that, I wouldn't mind hiding them entirely.

I just don't want them to appear with the episodes or special episodes (like OVA).

I guess I could .RAR these folders, but I'd have to do the same for a few hundred folders. If I can avoid it, that would be great.

There are two parts of your meta that determine how and where Specials/Extras Appear.

Part 1

image.png.140c127a1df474e0ca5f093fab822d13.png

Season number SHOULD be 0 to be identified by meta suppliers.  File names need to be S00EXX.

2. Set where it shows up.

If say its a Christmas special and you want it to show in aired order, you can say play during Season X, and Airs Before say as an example Episode 12.  That will make it play after Episode 11 or 10 or whatever the episode that precedes 12 is.

IF you want it to show as a Special ONLY, remove the airs before and airs during, and it will show only in the Extras.

In your user display settings, what is selected for the TV show display?  If you select one of the first two then all extras are shown along with the episodes.

I did some test. When the extras folder is alongside the season folder, your method work.
But when the extras folders are inside the season folders, it doesn't 🙁

Ah, I think I see it.  Your ED etc files specify Ep01 etc, and Emby is picking those up as actual episodes....

Also you have the Extras folders inside the season folders.  I know this is now allowed, but I haven't looked into its behaviour.  If you put all the extras into a single folder at the season level, you won't have the problem.

Because its not really a choice by emby.  If you look at the meta suppliers like thetvdb, specials are all marked as Season 0, which is where they are expected to be.

The stuff I posted lets you decide when and where they appear.

Plex as far as I remember had no such functionality so rather than keeping your specials in one place you had to put them where you wanted them to show up - sort of.

Emby gives you total control and the ability to show specials during seasons in broadcast order.  It was s simple change and the only change I had to make to my files, it was somewhat concurrent with a change in naming specials from I think X00 to S00.

Anyway, to me , the changes were well worth being able to have specials show or not show during seasons, and where they showed during the season.
