Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 HI, apologies for the delay. What was the solution?
Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 And i apologize that you had to update your ignores. I understand that may have been frustrating. The good news is that going forward, the ignore capabilities are much more powerful than before !

sa2000 674 Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 @Fragensteller I am sorry that you found the documentation here https://emby.media/support/articles/Excluding-Files-Folders.html not to be clear and you had to work it out yourself. If you care to tell me what was unclear and needs to be added or clarified, I will do so. Could you give me examples of filenames / folder names / structure and the relating .embyignore contents that you worked out as needed and I will look into it Thank You
EmblemJD 21 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 Hello @sa2000 Sorry to hijack the post but I also struggle a bit with the embyignore file and wonder if the following is intended behavior or not? I have this Folder Structure as an example: MAIN_SHARE .embyignore FOLDER_01 <Movie Files> FOLDER_02 <Movie Files> FOLDER_03 <Movie Files> FOLDER_04 <Movie Files> My .embyignore only has these exclusions: FOLDER_02/* FOLDER_03/* FOLDER_04/* My understanding: I create a library with the only folder added being MAIN_SHARE Expected result: only FOLDER01 shows due to .embyignore exclusions in library root Actual result: only FOLDER01 Movie Files However, if I create a separate library and manually add the folders FOLDER_02 / _03 and _04 (excluding the "root" MAIN_SHARE that houses .embyignore) Expected result: Folder content of _02 / _03 and _04 show in the library as they are explicitly added and do not have .embyignore in their respective root Actual result: The library stays empty I thought only .embyignore in the root of the library (ie. the highest folder in the tree added to the library) would count? Does Emby check for .embyignore in the parent of the added the folder instead? Is this intended? Many thanks for clearing that up!

sa2000 674 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 and to eliminate any overlapping libraries being involved so as not to complicate matters, are these folders FOLDER_02, FOLDER_03, FOLDER_04 still part of media in the other library?

With a library definition with 3 folder paths defined in library settings: Path to MAIN_SHARE\FOLDER_02 Path to MAIN_SHARE\FOLDER_03 Path to MAIN_SHARE\FOLDER_04 and no .embyignore within any of these folders or below and leaving an unrelated .embyignore in "Path to MAIN_SHARE\FOLDER_01", the movies tab view is just the movies within FOLDER_02, FOLDER_03, FOLDER_04 and the Folders tab view shows the 3 folders: FOLDER_02, FOLDER_03, FOLDER_04 and the movies within them can be seen when drilling down What version of Emby Server are you using ? If your results are different from what I had in my tests, please provide full and the exact details and emby server log after captured after scanning the library and screenshots of the library folders definition and outcome and also screenshot of the contents of the .embyignore and directory listings showing where it is Thanks
