[Bug] TS files do not `resume playback` on iOS and tvOS.

Exact same issue that I have on iOS and Apple TV. It works fine on Android. The only way resume actually works on iOS is if the video is being transcoded which probably means the mpv player is no longer being used. Unfortunately, there is no way to select the player on iOS.

@Deihmos

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Update. I now realize this has been fixed with a new setting.

This issue still exists. The only way I can get resume to work is if the video is transcoded. I saw something was done on Android to fix this so why not implement the same solution?

Hi, we'll take another look at it. Thanks.

Just an update on this. On iOS, there is now an option to force conversion for formats. With this enabled for mpegts I am now able to resume ts recordings.

On Apple TV, it only works if you change preferred player from auto to either mpv or native. I am not sure what auto does but it prevents resuming ts recordings.

Are there plans to fix this issue on Apple TV? I can't resume recordings when the player is set to auto. It works if I switch to the mpv player, but that player isn't great, especially if I need HDR and Dolby Atmos.

I prefer using auto instead. It's strange because the recordings are already using the mpv player with the auto setting, so why doesn't resume work? This has been an ongoing issue for a long time. The OP posted this in 2023, and I keep trying the betas, nothing seems to change.

@Deihmosthe user who originally reported the issue was direct playing .ts files with mpv. That issue has since been solved.

That means your issue is different. If you force it to native it's going to be transcoding. If you set it to Auto, it most likely will go to mpv with direct play.

So as you see there are a lot of variables. I asked you a year ago if we could look at a specific example. Can we now?

Resume works if I set the player to MPV or Native. It never works when set to Auto, and this only happens with recorded TV. For example, I tried to play Inside Politics with Dana Bash, and instead of resuming playback, it started from the beginning.

With native the server says it is converting to a compatible container, hls. Everything else is direct play.

Thanks for the logs. Are you still seeing this with Emby for Apple TV 2.0.1?

Still the same issue if the video player is set to auto. Strange because the player used is mpv but it still starts from the beginning. It still works if I change from auto to mpv as the default player.

@vdrover Were you ever able to resolve this issue? I have tried every update, but issue persists when the player is set to auto.

@Deihmosand you're still saying that it resumes just fine when the player is forced to mpv ?

Yes, it works when player is set to mpv. Never works when set to auto although the player is still mpv.

The Apple TV app has gotten a lot better. I just wish this was fixed because I prefer the auto settings.

This issue was resolved with 2.0.2 (3). Thank you!

One minor issue is  when resuming in-progress recordings on the Apple TV, the only option is to play from the beginning. While on other apps, there is a resume option.
