cisfi5h 2 Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 Hi, Really happy with new book support. Only not remembering latest page is not so handy but thats not a big problem. When i read books on my emby server pc (windows) with localhost:8096 i can read books with browser. If i do the same on another pc in the house or external I cannot read books. It doesnt open the book after clicking play. In the book library in path i can browse to the network share on my map. if i add optional shared network map (Which i do on all other libraries for local access) it stops directly after pressing play on ebook. If i remove this option it keeps trying. book data is on same nas/share as all other libraries.
Luke 42077 Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 Hi, currently this is only available in the Emby web app. It will be coming to more Emby apps gradually. Thanks.
cisfi5h 2 Posted October 9, 2025 Author Posted October 9, 2025 Hi Luke, That's a quick response! tnx i am using emby web, no ios, android nor windows app with emby web app (chrome and edge) on emby local server i can read books. With an ipad here at home with safari or a laptop with edge or chrome it does not load the book. Keeps spinning for a long time and then fails. the user that is configured on service has access to nas. I have been running like that for series en movies library for years
Protected 86 Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 Does the user have access to media downloading ("Allow media downloading")?
Protected 86 Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 @cisfi5hWe're having trouble reproducing this issue. Do you think you could please get us some information from your laptop (the one where it's failing to load)? 1. On Chrome, browse to the book file's view, the one that's like this: 2. Before opening the book, press F12 to open the browser console on the side. Press the button to clear the console. 3. Press Play in Emby (see the screenshot above) to open the e-book and wait until you are sure it has failed. (If it doesn't fail to load, please find one that fails and start over.) 4. Right click inside the console and select Save As to save the contents of the console to a file in your computer. 5. Post a reply here with that file attached. Thanks!
pgriffith 88 Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 Just to add some more info, I can use the web app in Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi and Brave to open a book on a local machine that is NOT also the server with no issues. This is a clean install of 4.9.1.80, not upgraded from a previous install. 1
