It would be nice to have some sort of indicator here that a recording is active. I know it says it in the activity log off to the right but I am not used to reading that before I do a manual restart.

Ideally, I would like the power icon to be the same icon but red and pulsing like an old school recording indicator but I will take anything.

If you're in the dashboard don't you see a big icon of the show that's being recorded? You can also move "recordings" up to the top on the home page so you see it every time you open the app and a recording is in progress. I also check upcoming recordings before a restart just to make sure I'm not restarting when a show is about to start recording.

I see nothing of the recording outside the Alerts feed

If you mean in the Now Playing section

My recordings have never shown there, if that is what you meant.

For instance, as you can see from the feed a recording (ep 220) is active yet I have no way of knowing it atm outside the feed.

I think the system should warn you when you request a restart.  Something like:

There are three active playback sessions and one active recording.  Restarting will terminate these. Are you sure?

That's a fair point and it probably does but I think a quick glance while on dashboard is not a bad idea either. Save me from checking feed or going to home page.

Actually..... dollars to donuts I bet there is an API endpoint somewhere for `isRecording` or something that I can add to the HA sensor and show it on that dashboard. Which would be much more handy for my purposes as I keep my HA dashes in ways I can read more easily than I do the Emby dash.

So, API for monitoring and the message to keep me from restarting on a recording. I am sound as a pound, y'all.

Hmmm.... maybe not, ebr. I mean it could just be my install. I think it possessed as there are two other active issues in the forums I have where I can repro my issue but others cant. Maybe this is another one like them

FFS, I did it again.

I guess my only option at this point is to not restart using the server app. Create a button in HA that uses the API to restart the server only if there are no active recordings

As far I can remember the active recordings were always right below the server details so it’s odd how come you don’t have it

Of course this feature working inside Emby is preferred.  Has anyone tried one of these apps?

It seems like a server monitoring app can have a lot of depth and features that would be very difficult to emulate.  Maybe one of these does exactly what you need to have.  Running it as a separate program that gets updated and bug fixed as well, seems to be a good solution.

I have my HA showing me when a recording is active but I keep forgetting to look before I restart my server.

I only ever access the server side of things via website so what I am going to do is use CSS to hide the restart button and when I go to restart I will be like "Ahh ya, check HA and restart via HA"
