colorstmg 0 Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 The server is successfully transcoding and deinterlacing VOB files in a DVD folder, and playback is smooth—great progress. However, I’ve noticed an issue: the server only plays only the first VOB file (e.g.,VTS_06_1.VOB ) and fails to continue with the remaining files in the sequence. Once the first file finishes, playback stops and a media error occurs. To resolve this, I kindly request the development team to implement a mechanism that automatically detects and transcodes the next VOB file in the folder once the current one completes. This would allow seamless playback of full DVD folders and could be a permanent fix for this limitation. ffmpeg-transcode-3e01989f-3cb6-4b31-8100-cf36d02fdc15_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-9b732293-5ce1-4ea2-8f31-89c098c6236c_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-1374ade1-ba20-452d-a7de-b144da41bc5e_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-96615e40-0117-4a53-b466-0b37ba8180c3_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-e745aace-0266-4742-9038-beb3707d4fd4_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-e3896b3b-9262-47f9-a1e3-e6694ec7c0ec_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-e2359045-664e-4801-8c60-3aa63975c302_1.txt
Luke 42077 Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 Hi, what it's supposed to do is read the dvd and put together a sequence of vob files and pass the whole list into ffmpeg. I can see that at some point something got lost with this so we'll look into it. Thanks.
colorstmg 0 Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 it could be a smaller issue on passing vob files to ffmpeg encoder, that the reason this thread has made. on futher analysis, i notice that the dvd folder reading is happening properly. It's getting the runtime of entire movie and other details too, like audio bitrates, subtitles info. Infact, the current setup could able to locate the correct vobfiles of the movie. in my case it is title 6. on the action of transcoding it has passing only first vob file to ffmpeg instead of sequences of files. it could be fixed by using concat method as shown below. # First, create a text file listing the VOB files echo "file 'VTS_06_1.VOB'" > list.txt echo "file 'VTS_06_2.VOB'" >> list.txt echo "file 'VTS_06_3.VOB'" >> list.txt # Then use the concat demuxer ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i list.txt -c:v libx264 -crf 23 -preset medium -c:a aac -b:a 128k output.mp4
Luke 42077 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 HI, yes I see the issue. We'll look into getting the fix in a 4.9.x update. Thanks.
colorstmg 0 Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 is this resolved with latest version?
