Emby Server on Nvidia Shield

The installation is stuck on the "Preferred language" screen. I choose "English United States", click NEXT and the blue buffer circle just keeps spinning. I am unable to progress to the next screen. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the server, but this does not fix the problem. The apk is version 4.9.1.80 for Shield, downloaded from the Emby website. When installing the apk, a message appears announcing that this version was for an older version of Android and is missing certain privacy features. I chose to continue installation despite the privacy risk.

Can anyone help me solve this issue?

Thanks for the prompt response, Luke. There are no files at all in the com.emby.embyserver directory, hence no logs. I tried a full uninstall/reinstall and got past the language screen to the "Create your first User" screen. I filled out the fields correctly but when I select NEXT, the button turns dark and the blue buffering circle starts again.

Hi, there is always a log file. If the server was unable to create a log file, then it wouldn't be able to start at all. What did you use to try and locate it?

Hi Luke, I used Total Commander (from Windows) to look at the Android directory located on the USB hard drive attached to the Shield. But I'm not sure that was the right place to look. Should I be looking at the Shield's internal storage?

What android directory did you find?

Hi Luke, your help to solve this is much appreciated.

These are the directories I found:

On the attached USB hard drive: \Android\data\com.emby.embyserver\files\ which is empty
On the Shield's internal storage: I can navigate to Shield/Android/Data using CxFile Exporer but I don't have permissions to open it.

When I tried installing the server, I used TVBro as the browser.

Where is the server typically installed on Shield?

Thanks.

The path you want to find is the data folder displayed in the screenshot above Neminem. Getting to the data folder is more important than the install files because under the data folder is where the logs are. I believe you can get there with the google files app.

Thanks, Luke. Is the data folder you need stored in Shield/Android/Data directory? If yes, since I don't have permissions, will the Google files app bypass the restriction and open the directory?

Last I tried it prompts you to grant permission

Thanks again, Luke. Unfortunately, Google Files was unable to grant permission. See attached screenshot. I've tried CxFile Explorer, TVBro, and Solid Explorer, all with the same result. Seems I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Are there any other suggestions for solving this?

Hi Luke, thanks for following up. I've made some progress getting to the log files. I finally found a file manager that was able to access the shield/android/data folder (screen shots attached). Now I have to find a way to copy them out of that folder so I can send them to you, as I assume you need to read them.

Hi Luke,

Just checking in to see if you've had a chance to review the Emby server files that I attached in my November 20th post?

Thanks.
