Emby on Google TV plays audio but shows no video after playing next episode

On server build 4.9.1.80 and latest Google TV emby app (Google TV latest firmware as well), shows will randomly just start playing audio and only display thumbnail. This has happened on two separate shows in my library, but it seems entirely random. It only happens when it jumps to the next episode after finishing an episode, but not everytime. If I go back to the episode menu and then play the episode, everything works fine.

I turned on logs and will send over the documentation when it happens again. So far, in the past few days, it hasn't happened.

Yes it keeps happening but sporadically. It doesn't do it when logs are turned on though. But I'll keep trying.

Okay I got it to do the glitch. But when I try to send the log file from the chromecsst by hitting the "share" button in the log, it says "not supported"

I'm also having this issue. I'll post logs next time it happens. But it's anytime there are sequential episodes (ie shuffling shows, VirtualTV) and about any random show as far as I can tell though anecdotally some shows seem to be somehow more prone than others. Ive only noticed this issue on Android TV (via  the google chromecast w/ android tv puck thing) though admittedly thats pretty much the only place Ive used it. Im using the regular emby app not the android tv specific emby app.

Here's my server log right as it changed to an episode and the video went out. I was shuffling adventure time and it dropped out after the first shuffled episode.

Additional info, sometimes i leave the shuffle on in the background and occasionally it will kick back in after a random number of episodes.

Also like i said it really depends on the show. For example Adventure Time always seems to break but like Family Guy never seems to. My guess is it has to do with like maybe different episodes being in different formats (maybe frame rates or something??) and struggling to transition between them which may be more rampant in my adventure time than family guy....just a shot in the dark idk.

Update: Third episode in queue played fine. I checked out the files in windows explorer and sure enough the first and third episodes were identical file formats with the second being different. Heres the info i found

1st and 3rd episodes which worked
.mp4
1280x720
23.98fps
159kbps 2ch 48khz audio

2nd episode that didnt
.mkv
Missing info in properties window in windows explorer
Emby plays it ok individually
Reports it as 1080p 60mbps h264
Flac stereo audio

Hmmm interesting. The two shows it's happening on are hvec, .mp4 with aac on one and eac3 on the other. It is now happening on both shows everytime consistently. I'm unable to send the log files from my Chromecast still.. I keep getting an error.

Bump? Still having the issue, no response from the devs?

My response got spun info a separate thread, so not sure what's going on. Thought it was trailers causing an issue, but seeing it with trailers off, then turned off cinema intro and still seeing it, so def something else

Yeah, I don't have any extras or even the next episode, skip intros or anything going on. Literally just straight playback issues. Im 100% convinced it's an issue coming from some kind of difference in files... like maybe switching from 24 to 60 fps or maybe resolution or bit rates or codecs or who knows.... but something of that sort. its always between episodes and only when episodes have some kind of difference between formats (eg episodes of the same show that are encoded the same play fine back to back).

I have the exact same files, formats, frame rate, etc on one show and it still does it.

Here's something I discovered. I just setup the new Google TV streamer, and I'm having no issues with playback. But the issue persists on the older Google TVs w/remote models.

Does it have a pending update or is it considered EOL.

Interesting, that's the same device I'm using (the older Google chromecast tv thing with the remote). Maybe a device issue or limitation then? I have a nvidia shield tv i need to try it out on then...

No, it shouldn't be a limitation. The OS is the same and same build. But since my last post, it just happened today after watching the same show. It hadn't done it for the past few days and it just happened this morning after a few episodes.
