Why does the football show when I'm watching the latest SouthPark Episode? That is how I arrived here.

Not a big issue, but just wondering. Also, why are Emby doing things like this, when they seemed to remove seasonal options (Haloween/Christmas, sorry Holidays) as too much of a hassle?

This is a small fun thing that hopefully almost everyone will enjoy. Once people start getting offended and start reacting harshly to it, then yea that does kind of take the fun out of it and that's pretty much what happened to themes.

The very idea that everyone wants to be reminded of "Armored Sumo Wrestling" when watching unrelated content is offensive to me. This needs to be able to be turned off if it is to remain a feature of Emby.

WOW are you bitter with your, "Football lives inside my head rent free so much that I have to mock it and cant reference it by it's real name?".
And what in the actual hell are you talking about with "unrelated content"? The football only shows up when you are watching football.

Are you complaining about a made up issue just because you dont like football or are you saying you see the football no matter what you are watching?

See the other post I quoted. In it you see that American football is NOT being played but the stupid icon is still there. 
I do not care what others watch or don't watch but I believe that nobody has the right to force others to see what they do not want to see. This forces me to see an image of American football even when I don't want to. I just want to be able to turn this stupid intrusion off. And NO, I do not like American Football or Basketball or Baseball but I do not care if others do. I just do not think it should intrude on my watching. Emby says "Your media your way" but what they appear to really mean is "Your media our way." Again I do NOT care if the option exists but I do care if it impacts my viewing.

Just to be clear, I did like the themes, and I'm not complaining about the football- I was just wondering why the white dot had changed on that episode... I don't think I reacted harshly or claimed offence. I hope it didn't come across that way.

I really like this feature; I noticed a pumpkin on some Halloween movies.

Are there any tags or metadata we can add to help trigger various ones on certain media?

like if I have some football movies, I would like to add in that slider, same goes for Halloween and Xmas, etc..

Yes, you can add in various tags to trigger the effect, now trying to figure out what all the effects are..

found halloween, nfl, nba so far..  anybody have a list by chance?

No, it didn't come across that way. All good. I was just explaining what happened to the seasonal themes. It started out as something meant to be fun but the negative reaction just took the fun right out of it.

That was a shame, the themes were fun and easily diabled if unwanted. I'll miss them this year!

I loved seasonal themes Christmas and Halloween. I don’t celebrate Halloween but it was fun to see something different for short time, There are people who have miserable lives. I like the icon hopefully we can see it for soccer tennis etc

As someone who is easily confused, constantly lost, grossly uninformed or just extremely under-skilled I have found myself oft to be a voice of dissent. More often than not loudly. I can honestly say I have never used, or really liked, the holiday themes but that has zero to do with Emby. It's just my personal taste. I am in Emby a lot and don't like the reminder of real life events if I am in the groove of the media. Maybe I want to back up 10 seconds cuz I was laughing so hard I missed the 2nd punchline in a joke or something and now I got reminded I need to buy a Christmas gift. To me it breaks what little immersion I can get from pancake content and immersion from pancakes is hard because of all the VR content I work with.... but I digress. I got sidetracked.

My point was this, I am anti-holiday theming and yet I loved the fact they were there. While I never used them I made sure everyone on my server knew they could turn them on for their account (if they ever did I don't know) because they are fun. I hope we see more of these, Luke, and I hope y'all bring back the seasonal ones and more.

Let's double back to those voices of dissent real quick. Sorry for over sharing but I will wrap this up quickly. Some of y'all that I'm friends with know I admin a very large Discord server that focuses on support for an app that I think just hit 2m downloads or is about to, I cant remember. I don't know the server size but there is like 9k active/online atm. I only bring this up because I want point out that I have experience being "that loud asshole" and I have experience dealing with them too. It's a unique perspective that I think allows me to point out 2 things:
1. Just because they are a loud asshole does not necessarily negate the point they are making  (but more often than not they are just wrong, even at the core)
2. In retrospect, do they ever stop and say "Hmm, ya know... if the bug had not been there I never would have even known this feature was there as I don't watch sports. So what am I really mad at? A feature that ultimately wont effect me or a bug that I happened to run into? If the bug, then why? They almost all get fixed at some point so why am I mad at this bug and not others?" I mean, I know when I am "that asshole" once I am able to look at it objectively I often find my own shortcomings to be the root of my dissent and not some fun little feature or annoying bug.

Anyway, I have rambled enough. Just hate to hear the team getting discouraged from fun things because of people who are really mad at themselves and not a little football icon.

And yes the loudest are heard, and assault any one not having the same view of things.

I feel its a shame that Emby did away with the seasonal themes, just because some loud enough said so.

I still use the Emby for Android TV, since it still has that option to turn on.

Tbh If people does not like something turn it off.

 

I love this fun gimmick but is there a off button, or an opt-in button.

I can't finde it, and that might be the issue, if its forces upon people that does not like it.

And this is where the team lacks, they don't give us the option to turn on or off,

Its forced upon us.

Making your own would be so fun. I'd love to have a little TARDIS as the icon when I watch doctor who for example, while I know a lot of people would NOT want that.
