emby 4.1.9.80 no more movies and TV shows

Hello,

 

I'm using emby for many years now and moving 4.8.11 to 4.1.9.80 is a mess.

I have tried to read messages in the forum, nothing seems to match my "simple" problem.

I don't use beta for months now, and 4.1.9.80 was supposed to be stable.

all my movies are gone, I had to rescan everything.

after hours of scanning, it was ok yesterday.

and today, everything is gone again,  empty ...... It's very frustrating and disappointing.

is it possible to back to 4.8.11 ?

Only if you had a full-back from before the update and it has not been overwritten since then.

@LukeThat is one issue with full backup as only one copy exists and users do not save with media the /library folder would get rest also in the purge and new backup correct?

Probably need to see a server log for startup.

But can only guess this per other user having library resets.

ok thank you I  restore  a weekly backup before 29th of september and reinstall 4.8.11 ?

I purchased my lifetime license in 2016, and this is the first time my installation has stopped working.
Even viewing books didn't work on my iPad, so reverting to version 4.8.11 shouldn't make much difference.

How can you reach beta version 80 and mess up so badly, and above all, offer it as a stable version?

Overall I think to many changes are going into beta and get worked out but the overall upgrade from current release does not get enough testing but at the same time it is impossible to cover everyones setup also as so much has changed over time and dev tries not to interrupt current installs and it just does not always work out that way.  As I updated three different systems from 4.8 to 4.9 with zero issue but others are having destructive updates.

Really depends on your backup plan as a Emby backup can be problematic as already mentioned but if you have everything yes you would reinstall 4.8.11.0 and restore the 4.8.11.0 backed up data.

Me personally I ensured I had a full-back before updating to 4.9 and renamed the backup folder.

@LukeI think this may need to be a backup option for major releases.
