petertn 0 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 I have a FireStick, just purchased. I have been running EMBY on my Synology for ages, everything fine. As with the FireStick, I decided to download EMBY and stream movies to a TV I have in the premises, but something weird is happening. I look into folders via EMBY and half the movies dont display. I can seach for them and they are in the folder, but not when I am veiwing directly from that folder in EMBY. Anyone have any ideas?
Luke 42077 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Hi, can you please show us exactly what you see? Also does the content on the same screens in the web app look correct?
petertn 0 Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 Thanks for the reply, here are all my details. 1/ Everything that follows is actioned from within the Primary Admin account, all rights. 2/ My primary EMBY Movie folder is called "Movies" (Pic1 - This is a screenshot, taken on my pc using FireFox as my browser.) 3/ Within my primary EMBY Movies folder I have many other folders, basically, these are folders of the genre listings. (Pic2) 4/ Using EMBY on my pc, or any phone, when I enter any folder, I see all the movies, no issues. You can see from Pic3 enclosed, a section of my "Classics" directory, with movies that go from 1953 to 1956. This is how things are listing when using a pc, mac or android phone. 5/ When I use my newly purchased FireStick 4k, and I navigate to the same directory via the EMBY app, quite a few of the titles are missing. See Pic4, which shows the same directory with Movies missing. This photo is of the TV Screen. 6/ One other item, if on the FireStick I search for a Movie that is not being displayed, I can find it. In Pic3, you can see Abbott and Costello and the Mummy listing in 1955, but on the FireStick the movie is not diplayed as being available. But in Pic5, you can see the EMBY search on the FireStick and how it found the movie. I am at a loss with this. Can you please help. I actually think there is an issue with the FireStick Emby APP. Its almost like there is a limitation on the number of files in a folder and it wont display some.
Luke 42077 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 HI, what tab is that in the FireStick app? Are you sure it's the folders tab?
petertn 0 Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 Absolutely it is. I go through the same path process. Home Page/"Movies" Library, then to the Folders tab at the top/then "Classic" folder. Exactly the same thing I do on a pc browser and on my smartphone. I have tested multiple browsers on my pc and even the browser on my phone.
petertn 0 Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 As I said ealier, Pic3 is the Classic folder in a browser, Pic4 via the FireStick. It is exactly the same folder. You can see Classic at the top left. Here are 2 more Pics, Pic6 and Pic7 Pic6 - Picture of TV, with Folders option selected. You can see the genre folder listings. Pic7 - This shows me scrolled down to the Classic folder.
petertn 0 Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 My AI review noted the following: Based on the details provided, this issue is likely specific to the FireStick version of the Emby app, and you are not alone—others with Fire TV/FireStick have reported seeing only a subset of items in folders, while those items are still present and searchable, just not being displayed as expected. Key Causes and Observations There is no overall Emby server limitation on the number of items inside a folder. Some FireStick and Android TV versions of the Emby app historically had artificial limits on the number of items shown in a folder or list (for example, as low as 20 or 250 in various contexts), while the media remained available and searchable. These issues are not present on other client platforms like PC, Mac, or mobile, matching your description. This behavior is not a result of Emby folder-based access control, and not controlled by permissions or user rights when the account is fully privileged. The issue persists with current FireStick devices and may be a bug or "feature" limitation in the Android TV/Fire TV build of the Emby app. Recommendations Check the FireStick Emby app settings for a folder or display item limit and adjust if possible. Try updating the Emby app on the FireStick to the latest version, as recent updates may have addressed or changed these display limits. If the problem persists, report the bug with precise details (folder structure, number of items missing, app version) in the Emby Community Forums, where developers and other users track Fire TV/Android TV-specific issues. Until resolved in the app, continue using search as a workaround for "missing" titles—they are still indexed by the server, just not listed in the folder view. This issue appears to be a known limitation or bug in the Emby app for FireStick, and a fix may require an app update or direct input from Emby developers.
ebr 16169 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 FYI, most of those are incorrect. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.

petertn 0 Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 not sure what that was for.. for the information isnt wrong.. there is clearly something wrong with the app, if you are asking me to find another one.
petertn 0 Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 Ok, I checked on the AppStore on the FireStick and there was another version, which displayed correctly. The one that doesnt work is the EMBY for FireStick App, so clearly I was right and so was the AI. Poorly written app.
petertn 0 Posted October 10, 2025 Author Posted October 10, 2025 How can I find out what version it is??? and honestly, this version works but is unstable. It doesnt allow for exiting.

It doesnt allow for exiting. If you click your user icon up in the header, then you'll see the version. And what makes you think it doesn't allow for exiting?
petertn 0 Posted October 10, 2025 Author Posted October 10, 2025 This version is 3.5.12 EMBY for Android. YOU cant exit. Using the back key previously on the FireStick got me to a point while using EMBY, that it asked if you wanted to EXIT. This version doesnt do it. I need to physically move to the top of the screen and log out. I can't jsut EXIT as in the EMBY for FireStick version. And if I dont do this, when I come back into EMBY, EMBY is locked up and I need to restart the FireStick. This version is problematic. The FireStick version is clearly better, but as I said, it has issue displaying folder contents. I dont know why you guy just don't review the FireStick version and fix it. Seems the appropriate way forward unless people are lazy.
Luke 42077 Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 What exactly happens when you try to exit? (You can)
petertn 0 Posted October 11, 2025 Author Posted October 11, 2025 Nothing happens... I can't... the only way I can exit is logout. As noted, that's not the only issue. If I leave emby on and turn off the FireStick, when I re-enter, the EMBY page genre listing is displayed and the mouse is stuck. At that point, I need to power off the FireStick and come back in again.
Luke 42077 Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 Quote Nothing happens... I can't... the only way I can exit is logout. What happens when you click back on the home screen? And then what happens if you click back again after that? Quote If I leave emby on and turn off the FireStick, when I re-enter, the EMBY page genre listing is displayed and the mouse is stuck.
