And I don't know how many people are following this topic, so I will politely mention all of the posters here who have either already stated their support for fixing this problem, or at least are directionally aligned with not breaking things in the software that used to work and be used.  Not that I want to put words in anyone's mouth or attribute any particular position.  I'm just asking everyone here to please read the new post.  Which I forgot to link to previously.  Here it is:

Anyone who wants to see this changed back, or just wants the devs to attempt to make a really convincing explanation as to why this is an improvement, please look at the new post and give it a +1 (and perhaps also a comment if you are feeling exceptionally passionate).

@Ronstangdid you try setting the user profile option to auto enter single item folders? This will allow it to jump right through that extra layer.

Also did you create a previous topic about this? Thanks.

Yes, he did.  It's here.  But you haven't responded to that post in over a month.

We'd like to know what is going to happen in regards to this breaking change to Folder View:

I assume you mean this:

Well guess what Luke, that is not a solution.  Because it is a MASK to the problem.  Sure it lets you click THROUGH the USELESS extra layer you added but that is useless because then you can't edit images.  All you can do is see the ones there, you can't search anymore because there is still the INVISIBLE and USELESS folder layer there for NO REASON.

I am trying to organize my collection but I can't anymore.  In order to do so I either need 50 [redacted] libraries or constantly click through an artificial layer that SERVES NO USE [redacted]

Why should we have work arounds to stuff that used to work beautifully that you BROKE for no reason, not a single one.  Name me one reason this extra folder [redacted] is of any value or purpose?  You can't because it has none.

Emby is now [redacted]. It is unusable  because you added a feature no on asked for and no one needs because it does nothing but take away and here we are more than six weeks after you dumped this [redacted] on us and you are still acting like you don't have any clue what we are complaining about.

[redacted] Luke, you need to realize that just because most of your users probably don't even have 1000 movies I have 15K, physically on disc with another 100 TV series from disc. I cannot throw everything in one giant folder.  It isn't possible.

I can no longer use or enjoy emby because it is broken. Thanks Luke, you really came through on this one.

I can understand the frustration, but you'll have to tone it down. Be civil, use appropriate language and restrain from attacks on the Devs team. Consider this a friendly warning.

@Ronstang

I too have been frustrated by making my case seemingly over and over without getting an acknowledgement from the devs that their proposed solutions to this problem don't actually restore the functionality that we used to have.  However, please check out the new feature request post at https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/144430-bring-back-the-old-folder-view/.  In it, there has been some tenuous discussion of a path forward from the devs, which I am currently choosing to assess as "encouraging".  I'd suggest that you add in your +1 there and let's see where the discussion goes next.

Hi, an option is being added for the next release to allow you to control this:

Thanks.
