yocker 1247 Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Awesome stuff! Looks incredibly good! Sadly hard to implement in the docker version. Would love for the devs to implement an easy way to customize the UI. 2
yocker 1247 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 You should be able to add this to the Unraid docker version without actually changing any Emby files so it will be fully reverseable if needed. 1. Open the console for the Emby container. 2. Go to system/dashboard-ui 3. Copy the index.html to one of your media drives so you can access it 4. Optional: Move the index.html to another folder you would like it to be in. 5. Edit: The index.html as explained in the readme on github. 6. Download the Spotlight.js from github and place it in the same folder (for ease sake lets say /mnt/cache/embystuff/). 7. Edit the docker container and add a new path. ---name: index ---container path: /system/dashboard-ui/index.html ---Host path: /mnt/cache/embystuff/index.html 8. Add a second new path and do the same for Spotlight.js 9. Start Emby. When you want to reverse it you just remove those paths again. Basically what it does is tell docker that those files located somewhere else and not where they otherwise would be. Emby will not see anything different and work as normal. This way any original files in Emby never gets touched. Quick disclaimer: I havn't done this my self with this "plugin" hence why i said "it should work" so use at your own risk. I have done it with other similar stuff though without problems. 1
visproduction 315 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 OK, but wouldn't all the relative links in index.html stop working. I think you would have to replace all the links with a corection link to locate any support files in the header and any other links. Otherwise they would just stop working. It's not a big thing, with a proper text editor and the correct replacement command it could all be done with pressing Enter once.

Should still work as Docker/Emby believes the file is still where it should be. I will admit i not 100% sure but the things i have changed in the Emby files have worked with this method no problem. Neminem 1515 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 @yockeris right this is just a file replacement and Emby will see it as the original file and be happy. The good thing about this is that you don't mess with the internals of the container. 1

ppo852 0 Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 “Is there a built‑in option in EmbySpotlight to reduce the banner’s height/scale, or a recommended CSS/JS method to make it smaller?

arrbee99 1814 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Awesome as this is, am wondering if there's any way to trigger a refresh of the items randomly selected for display ? If not, then maybe.....?
Asazen 8 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) This amazing product should be installable via a direct plugin from Emby. For Synology NAS devices, you need to copy the files as root; otherwise, it won't allow you to copy them to system/dashboard-ui because it throws an access error. Edited January 6 by Asazen

Did your server auto update from 4.9.1.90 to 4.9.3.0? If so, you need to set the widget up again. It's working here with the newest stable server version. Edited January 12 by sh0rty

I reinstalled the widget (downloaded the widget freshly and put it into dashboard-ui folder), tried restarting Emby and the whole server, but no luck unfortunately.

You need to edit index.html (5. in repo manual)

KobayashiM 27 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 @sh0rtyThis mod is sick, BIG thank you! Like many users, I've been wanting it as a feature for years. I'm looking forward to future development.
sh0rty 714 Posted January 25 Author Posted January 25 (edited) Last version of the Plugin from my side with Trailer support in Github. Beware: strictly experimental since overkill settings (number of items + resolution settings) can influence the widget load time. @arrbee99Refresh button included. Important: Ctrl-Shift-R Emby page after changes to the js file. Edited January 25 by sh0rty 2
