And the same thing happens if i search Netflix or Amazon.
we can add support for quoted searches.

It worked on the last version of emby server so this is not how it was working.

@Painkiller8818I think its part of fixing this.

hm yes maybe, but now they changed it back, on the pc or laptop it is ok to have tons of unneeded results but on the tv it is a bit harder to sort out because it is loading a lot more, if i get thousands of results for a movie with "the" in it because it also searches songs etc.

Fact is, the new server version has this in the changelog:

* Improve results of multi-word searches

and it is simply not true, there is nothing improved in multi word search if it takes every word on its own.

On the 4.9.2 beta channel you can wrap your search in quotes and it will limit to results matching all words.

How should this work using VOICE search as i told you?

It really was better on the old server version, maybe you just accept the feedback and bring the function back like it was.

I saw a lot topics about things became worser in this version and i really don't understand why a lot feedback get ignored, some lost their whole libraries and this really shouldn't happen

Perhaps a server or user option (maybe called something like Prefer Exact Matches over Fuzzy Matches) to automatically wrap any specified search term in quotes?

i'm having this exact same problem since the latest update. If I type something like:

No Time To Die

Now every single instance of those words shows up including tv show titles, actors, songs, etc. The list is literally too long for me to even scroll.

If I put quotes around it, like "No Time To Die" it has no effect. I still get the same list.

If I do +signs in front of every word, it limits it to just one title.

I don't know, it just looks way cluttered having a screen of 10,000 items when it worked better before.

Maybe having a toggle that makes the search require all keywords be present. requiring exact matches would be annoying when you get some part of the title wrong or if you were doing keyword searches.

Another example of the annoyance I just noticed: If I want to search through music for only songs with say Lil Wayne and Juvenile, I used to be able to type [lil wayne juvenile] and it would filter all of the music down to a list that included every song with them both in it.

Now the list includes every song either of them are in. Plus it contains any artist, song, title, etc with the words lil, wayne, or juvenile in it plus some results that just start with "lil". I can't even figure out a work around to make that one work since I'm not looking for an exact phrase but keywords where I only want results where they are all present.

It is arranged so that the ones with all the results appear first, but its like a list of 100,000 items and only the first maybe 30 are relevant.

I'm not sure what steps you want me to take here, given that simply searching for something is likely to end up pretty buried in a log file. Or is simply doing a search and saving the log enough?

@Lukeit's still taking me 20-30 seconds for any search results to come up.

Hi, yes we are continuing to work on improving it. Thanks.

I agree the new 4.9 search is horrible, the search in 4.8 worked great

4.9 seems to default to the "and" operator so if you have multiple words in the search field its giving you everything with any of those words instead of results with "all" the words.

Please revert the search changes back to the way it was in 4.8

I shouldn't have to add quotes or other symbols when I am trying to search with my remote

Yes, certainly possible.

I second this, please fix the search. It makes no sense to search for results with ANY of the terms put in the search field; the default should not be an OR function, but rather an AND function when one puts in more than 1 word. Why was this behaviour even changed from 4.8?
