Search Questions and Enhancements

I checked the above Points on my Server with win 11 and this is my conclusion:

 

1. Identify on the context menu.... Where is the search by IMDB ID # or TMDB ID#????....

Unable to reproduce

 

2. Search is a little bit better. But wow. I used to search for a full name and get maybe 1 or 2 results. ...

 

Yes, the "improved" multi word search is not workin for me, i searched for "the lost bus" and i got all results with just the word "lost" so this is no improvement to me and not taking the full phrase to search. In this point kbeck is right.

 

3. The link to the Emby Premiere icon is broken when you view the Dashboard from a networked computer. Pic below.

So the only point i can confirm is the multi word search is not what i expected and i would say it is worser than it was on the old version


BTW: no tags disappeared for me, but i got one more because some "theme song" i download using the theme song plugin had a tag or an entry on "grouping" but i removed this and everything is fine, all my tags are still here, but i recorgnized, that the item number on the Tag Items are no longer there.

So E.G i have a TAG 4K on all my 4k movies, and i can now no longer see how many 4k movies i have with this tag, this is something i saw before.

Yeah, it's now returning all results that include any of the words you search for, instead of all of them. It makes search utterly useless in many situations.

Ok interesting, but this is not how i want to search in Future so this should definitely get fixed in the upcomming version

But that how search engines work (+) = added to search / only search for this term.

no, this depends how it is programmed, if you say full term search it will search for the full string you enter without the need of +

like it did till now in emby.

no, i get tons of results even if i search in quotes

Given that linking words with quotes is how Google has long done it, it seems strange not to support it.

Yeah, even this forum uses quotes to search for phrases.

it would be great to just bring back the normal function to search the whole search text.

i use voice to search for titles so i can't say to search the+lost+bus

 

it should work like before just telling to search the lost bus like it was in the last server version

I'm still on .36 and haven't updated to .80 yet, but search is unusably slow for me. Like, 10-15 seconds before results show up.

I have the Nvidia Shield, so i just go on the Search icon and say the name of the movie, it recorgnizes what i say so for example i say "der herr der Ringe" (lord of the rings) and instead of showing just items matching the whole search phrase it shows everything emby can find for all of the words 

I never changed how i searched so with the updates and i saw the "improved for multi word searches" i must say this got worser than it was

Still an issue after updating to stable.

...worse, even. It just took me over a minute to get any search results. It's utterly unusable.

I'm not sure what steps you want me to take here, given that simply searching for something is likely to end up pretty buried in a log file. Or is simply doing a search and saving the log enough?

Those first two things both have Tom Cruise in them, so this is nothing new. They would have always come back in search results.

You saw that i wrote i took an example picture from ebr?

This is not an actual picture, this is just the answer to "Hi, exactly what search icon are you using?"

This picture is about the icon, not the search results
