smouss 2 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 Hello everyone, I had been using a Synology DS-214 Play NAS for many years. But it was getting old and I was finding it increasingly difficult to play videos in high quality. Playback would freeze or the film would never start, and worse still, it would crash the Emby server. I decided it was time to invest in a new NAS. So I opted for the U Green DXP 6800, which seems like a good choice. You tell me, knowing that I mainly use my NAS as a multimedia server and to back up photos from my phone. I could install it very easily by simply clicking on ‘install’ in the NAS application list, but it's not available yet, apparently. So I followed the tutorial that's floating around everywhere, which is as follows. https://mariushosting.com/how-to-install-emby-with-hardware-transcoding-on-your-ugreen-nas/ No problems during installation. Everything went well, even though it was my first time using Docker. The problem is that large films (MKV, HEVC 4K DV, around 10-20 GB) still freeze. They play for 10 seconds and then freeze. However, it doesn't seem like too heavy a format to me. I even have 3 GB films that freeze as well. However, I hope the NAS is powerful enough... I think there must be a configuration issue. I did enable transcoding in the server settings. The tutorial may not be using the correct Emby Docker image. I don't know because it's completely outside my area of expertise. The same goes for Linux, which I don't use at all. I see that there are lines that can be modified, such as: devices: - /dev/dri/renderD128:/dev/dri/renderD128 - /dev/dri/card0:/dev/dri/card0 And others that can be added depending on our hardware configuration (I think). But I have no idea what they are for. Perhaps there are one or two lines missing, or perhaps I need to change a setting depending on the CPU architecture (x86 in my case). If anyone can help me, that would be great. If it helps, the hardware configuration of the DXP 6800 pro is Processor architecture: X86 Processor: 5th generation Intel® Core™ i12, 10 cores, 12 threads In fact, when I start the film, the hard drive starts working flat out, it scratches and scratches (as was the case on my Synology with the same films). I disabled transcoding to see if that would help, but it's the same. I installed Jellyfin to see if it would work, and it works fine with films that don't work on Emby... And the hard drive doesn't start working flat out... pffffff Thank you to those who took the time to read this. Have a nice day.
smouss 2 Posted October 4, 2025 Author Posted October 4, 2025 Perhaps it's the sound that's causing the problem. I see that every time it crashes, there's an audio transcoding from DTS to AC3. But how can I fix this? And why does it only crash on Emby?
Luke 42077 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
