GaryG 5 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 (edited) This began yesterday, I have the Emby App on a ROKU TV. It starts but then very quickly exits without warning. Tried an uninstall, reinstall of the app, did a network restart, no change. Emby app on my phone works fine, and other TV's in the house are fine, so it seems to be isolated to this one ROKU TV. Were any updates pushed out yesterday? Ive attached the log that coincides with the time I was seeing this, which was around 108 AM. Any thoughts what might have changed or may be causing this? embyserver-63895137632.txt Edited October 4, 2025 by GaryG Spelling

flipflopbiker 0 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 I have many different types of Roku's and they all work just fine outside of the Roku Streambars. Once they update hit they both bring up the Emby logo and then immediately crash. I don't have any developer options to send in for a log on this issue. I'm sure this isn't just me.

flipflopbiker 0 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 (edited) Just realized this is under wrong topic and that it seems like it’s a known issue (well not sure if it’s known about the stream bar version) in the proper channel sorry. Edited October 4, 2025 by flipflopbiker
Michelsen 4 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 (edited) Just posting that I'm also hit with this issue on 1 of 3 Rokus where the app just crashes a few seconds after starting it. I've tried what everyone else has so far... restarting the server (even though it works fine on 2 other Rokus), rebooting, checking for updates, clearing cache, remove and reinstall Emby, unplugged the Roku before reinstallation, nothing helps. It worked late last night, it doesn't this morning. I'm not sure if either Emby or the Roku or both had an update during the night, but seems likely an update is the cause? My problem device is a Streambar Pro with Version 14.6 Emby Version 4.1, build 49 Edit to add that I'm getting the same issue with a 4th Roku, the smaller regular Streambar. It is working correctly however on 2 Roku Ultra devices. Edited October 4, 2025 by Michelsen

mwfs_cdn 1 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 Hello, I can also confirm that I have both a Roku Streambar Pro and Streambar running version 14.6 with Emby Version 4.1, build 49 and the Emby app stopped working last night. I have performed all the troubleshooting steps that others have tried. I have other Roku Ultra devices in the house that are all still working. Thanks. 1
cmh31909 1 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 They sure do seem to be breaking Emby on the Roku a lot lately. Perhaps better QA would help?
jzuilkowski 3 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 (edited) I can confirm I am in the same boat. Launch app, logo, exit to Roku. Cannot access any options, or anything. Reinstalled app, reboots, updated server, etc. Working on all other roku devices but the roku soundbar. Edited October 4, 2025 by jzuilkowski
Luke 42077 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 HI, apologies for the disruption. It is only impacting certain Roku models. We have found a fix and are getting it submitted to Roku so that you'll have it as soon as possible. Thanks. 1

cmh31909 1 Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 We had the issue just a few weeks back where the app was crashing on deleting videos.
ebr 16169 Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 Okay, yes that was in July. Apologies. We have a very small beta group because Roku makes it very hard to release beta versions. Both of these issues were restricted to very specific hardware/configurations that none of our testers or developers happened to have. Thanks.
ThePaladinTech 22 Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 Sigh I better get in the beta I was … and I have a streambar

As in I’ve been slacking. Embys been working so good I didn’t even know y’all moved to GitHub discussions.

In that case how can users with hardware affected by this update be added to the testers group to ensure stuff like this doesnt happen again? Roku doing away with private testing channels is really showing its impact now. Its really annoying having to Jerry rig a temporary client with my TV setup especially late night trying to relax, guys.....
Luke 42077 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 I would strongly suggest voicing feedback to Roku to allow for a more flexible beta approach. 1
ypaulb 1 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 My problem device is a Roku Streambar Pro as well . Emby Version 4.1, build 49 Launch app, logo, exit to Roku. Cannot access any options, or anything. Reinstalled app, reboots, updated server, etc. Working on all other roku devices but the roku soundbar. Hope it's fixed soon. I would also consider being a beta tester for the sound bar. 1
