Question on "Stats for nerds"

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi,
i've a question...
When turning on the "stats for nerds" I see a message "Wiedergabefehler wird behoben" -> something like Playback error is being fixed.
The Video and Audio streams are played "direct" and no Subs are selected.

Can you explain why emby is converting something?

I'll attach the server log (start playing the file at line 596) and a screenshot from the stats to this.
Maybe you can explain whats "wrong" with the file and why emby has to do something during playback.

Thanx

Is suspect the LG player threw an error, so the same streams are being delivered without conversion in a new container. What is the full media info for this file?

OK so now we know the reason why. It is recovery from an error thrown by the LG player.

Ok... and what error is thrown by the LG Player?

What's the reason for the error?

Unfortunately all we get is an error code of mediadecodeerror.  LG does not provide a way to get more detailed error info than that.

Maybe try reencoding the file if you want to avoid this? You just have to keep in mind that the LG video player is not going to be as robust as something like VLC. It will require more cleanly encoded files.

Unfortunately this is not an isolated case 😞
Since the WebOS Update this happens on multiple files (not all)

I haven't been able to identify a pattern yet.

On my old LG that hasn't got an WebOS update this is not happening.

Another Problem since the WebOS Update is that In some cases DTS Audio Tracks are being transcoded to DD 384kbit.
This is happening not on all DTS Tracks but sometimes... even here i couldn't identify a pattern yet 😞

If it's interessing for you guys I will try to find out what kind of DTS Tracks are affected and which ones are still working.
Before the WebOS Update DTS Tracks have always been played direct (LG 2024 Series support DTS) and never been transcoded 😞

Maybe LG has some more homework to do 🙂
Do you know a LG forum where I can communicate these probs?

ok... here is what i found out 😉

WebOS 25 supports DV in mkv files.. BUT...

only Dolby Vision Profile 8... all mkv files having DV Profile 7 are not played in Dolby Vision but get an error (see initial post) and are played in HDR.
