Well..... I added my email to the server because I assumed I must have used my email address in the past when I first created the server.

I realised quickly that I had not so I did some googling and found that I need to create an account on Emby connect to enable myself to log into the server remotely, so I did that and still things didn't seem to work. At this point I posted here knowing there are many users using the service with no issue, so surely there is something I had missed......

I retraced my steps and realised that when I entered my email address into the server, it had been rejected and not stored. Oops. Re entered my email address, and it immediately began working on my phone.

I do have a question though. Can I create a new user for my father? I don't want him clogging up my app with his last viewed and suggestions etc.

Does that require him to create an Emby connect account? Then somehow enter my server email address? Will it differentiate between the two users?

I will google this now, just thought I would ask while I am responding.

I have added the new user on my end now just have to visit dad and get him to create on Emby connect. I'm a bit confused with Emby premiere. It says "free app" yet I have not subscribed, and it still works on my phone, admittedly very limited testing. Is something like 1 user is free and the remainder require a premium sub? Do I as the server owner purchase it and covers all users, much like Plex's new model, or do each individual user need a premium pass for the app to work remotely? Sorry for dragging out this, but clarification is bliss. I have no issue paying, by the way. I just want to know where key features lie in the premium landscape.

Hi. This is not true.  Emby Connect is completely optional.  You can access your server remotely via its address at any time.  Connect is just a convenience.

@DRUNASwhat made you think Emby Connect is required? Do you know how to connect directly to your server without using it?
