Holding down Back/Return immediately exits the app

Issue: When holding down the back/return button on the remote the app just exits to the home screen.    Exit app while menu is open is turned off in settings. However, the Samsung app doesn't flip back at all; it just exits right away.

  • This can cause confusion when you use other apps.

Expected behavior: the app would be consistent with other apps like the Android version and flip back to the home screen when holding down back/return.

  • app v2.2.5
  • server 4.9.1.80
  • model 2018 Q8FN

Steps:

  • scroll several levels deep (i.e. tv series, season, episode, actor, etc)
  • hold the back/return button down
  • app immediately exits

I think hold back/return is a platform level exit which we can’t intercept. It’s almost like a forced app close.

I’ll have a look just to be sure that is correct.

On my Samsung TV this is default behaviour of all apps, when holding back key, just closes the app.

But Emby should not simply close when (short) clicking the back button on Home Screen, it should ask.

I think there is an app option to configure whether it exits on back

Thanks @SamES

It may be the default on my 2018, I just don't use any other apps on my TV itself.

It would be nice if it could return home like the other Emby apps, but if nothing else at least ask would be great or disable I suppose is an option.

I can see myself quickly exiting the app a lot now that I'm used to it

Yes, I would prefer that too. I’ll check if there is any way that this is possible.
