ejx982 2 Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 Hi All! Updated to v4.9.1.80 automatically on 9/30, but I don't remember using Emby immediately after then. Today I logged in, and I see a substantial amount of metadata gone, all art seems. I have tried to do a library scan, twice, actually I went to each library and did a metadata refresh. Just wanted to reach out if I have a corruption or system configuration or a bad update or if there is an issue with v4.9.80 If it's me, I'd appreciate guidance; if it isn't, I'll just sit tight. Thanks! 1
Luke 42077 Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !

Thanks! I also had a similar issue but caught it pretty quickly. After the update, within some of my library the Meta Data Providers were all unselected, as if they were automatically "unchecked": Can you check in your library settings if the Metadata providers are selected there for each segment? ejx982 2 Posted October 3, 2025 Author Posted October 3, 2025 Wow, all of you posted much faster than I expected. The issue resolved on its own, or I believe it did. By mistake @brothomI did check that area "Series Metadata Downloaders" and they were all marked, but I hit save anyway. I suspected a problem with my metadata folder, so I told it to save to a new location. Then I did a full library scan, followed up by metadata refreshes for each library. Sometime later, i see everything about back to normal. Thank you @Happy2Play & @Luke I figured I'd post what ended up occuring should anyone else have the same issues as before: TLDR: Lost almost all my cover, box, art Step 1 Ran a library scan twice Step 2 Ran metadata scans Step 3 Made a new metadata save location Step 4 Ran library scan again Step 5 ran a metadata scan again It's possible that it was working between Step 1, Step 2, or Step 3, but I wasn't patient enough. Thanks again everyone! 1
Phunkless 0 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 Hey, i think i got a similar problem as of @ejx982 mentioned. Only my collections tab have this problem and not all of them as shown in the screenshot My Meta Data Providers are all checked and the switch to a new metadata location don't seem to work for me. Emby Server v4.9.1.80
Phunkless 0 Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 (edited) Here is my work around for this. In emby web-view: multiselect all the collections with wrong covers by clicking on the top left corner of the collection go to the 3-dot menu on the top right and select "Refresh Metadata" check "Replace existing images" and klick "Refresh" wait 30-60s, depending on the size of your collection refresh the collections tab by pressing F5 covers should now show the right collections cover Edited October 5, 2025 by Phunkless
Luke 42077 Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 @Phunklessthanks for following up with that. Apologies for the disruption.
dhallam 2 Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 (edited) Hi i have had the same issue tonight when adding some new seasons to a series i have been watching and could not in any way get the new 2 seasons to get any metadata at all. I even resorted to watching logs and couldn't see anything throwing an issue, i even tried to remove all images and .nfo files on a few other series I had and they would not get any new metadata automaticaly or even via the metadata manager. And normally it does this automatically when adding new episodes or films so was a bit perplexed, even doing a full refresh it was getting nothing. I cam across this post and tried the idea above and did a full metadata refresh from the Series section within the web view and it finally re downloaded and its now fine. But something is not as it should be as normally its fine doing this from the metadata manager or automatically. Cheers for the help Also im not sure if this was the cause or not but within my series folder in the library one of the sections i think had the TVDB section unticked for one of the options which i changed but not sure if that would change anything as it was still ticked for all options Edited October 9, 2025 by dhallam
