Emby on VegaOS

Amazon announced the new FireTV products with new linux-based (non-android-based) OS.
The documentary says that it would be easy to reuse the code to compile for VegaOS.

Is this on focus?
Would be nice to test new FireTV Stick (october 2025) with VegaOS and Emby on it.
Some old FireTV products should get the new OS, too.

FYI our existing apps should work on the new OS initially as well.

Amazon's Vega OS will be a Linux distro with it's own package format and no support for APK's!

Correct, but Amazon has a solution for existing Fire OS apps that they select and they have selected ours.

I had mine delivered today, although the Emby version is available to download from the cloud  it is extremely laggy and playback isn't working correctly.

 

Do you have a rough ETA as to when the Vega version will be available?

I think I've run into this issue on a brand new "Fire TV Stick 4K Select".  Emby is not available in the app store.

We are working on it, but we don't know yet. We have a line of contact with the Vega developers and we may actually have to get some things added to the OS. So we have to go through this back and forth process with them, complete development, then submit it to them for review.
