Live TV --> Recordings view changed with v4.9.1.80 - How to change back

Hi,

 

Just upgraded to 4.9.1.80. I have noticed the Live TV --> Recordings view is now seasons view rather than the old flat episode view. How can this be changed back? As Live TV is recorded and can be out of order, and I keep the episodes relatively clean, it was much easier to find episodes in the old view, particularly when lots of different series are recorded with only 1-2 episodes each.

I have had a look around and can't find an obvious method.

It seems odd, given that there is also a "Series" view.  I note that the old view is still showing in the Windows app, FWIW.

Windows app looks "right". Web app (FF) & Theater both show the new & (not so) improved view.

Hi, this makes it look the same as if you went into the recordings library, no? This way it matches everywhere.

Perhaps, but when selecting Live TV > Recordings, it now looks like the Series view (recordings grouped by series) in Theater & web app (FF), rather than showing individual recordings like it used to. It looks "correct" in the Windows app.

And is the wrong or is that just something to adjust to?

I believe the gist of this topic is that we prefer the 'individual recording view' to the 'matches everywhere' view. An option would be a reasonable compromise, methinks.

Refer to the display in the Windows app, which remains unchanged (i.e. is NOT the  'matches everywhere' view).

The problem with the series view is:

1. Series with no episodes still show up.
2. It is not easy to see how much is recorded and how much you need to catch up with.
3. Having 20 series icons with 1-2 episode each increases the number of clicks to get to the recordings. (There could be 3 episodes each in their own season). Makes navigation painful.
4. As this is live TV there are often repeats (here in Australia the XML TV guides are not properly tagged as repeats). So there is a lot of cleanup to do with random episodes in different series.
5. I have been using the TV -->Recordings view exclusively as the Direct Recordings view was series based.

Any PVR i have used in history has always just shown the individual recordings, the series view has taken away this normality for me, and not sure why. I couldn't see this in the changelog that the episode view was being removed either.

If there could be an urgent option to change the view between these it would be great, as I'm considering downgrading.

This is a horrible view please revert back to how it was originally or have an option at least. I can't speak for others but in our household it's watch and delete. Instead of improving emby it seems backwards by changing things that work. This needs to be urgently fixed.  In Emby Theater it's still the same phew if that changed it will be the end of emby in my household.

Found out last night that the  Universal Emby for Android - Stable: v3.4.74 client also remains unchanged (i.e. is NOT the  'matches everywhere' view).. Please make this a global option!

The Android app is now ruined with this rubbish change. Instead of getting Tvnext we get this garbage forced upon us that we can’t change.

It prompted you if you had many recordings do you want to chnge to title view said no and that was it.

You always had an option to change the view later on this is all we are asking that there is an option. For some users series view may be perfect   I delete after i watch unless it is a movie some I keep. I am sure many of us are in the same boat.
 

We were all looking forward to a new release but this is a horrible disappointment and it needs to be changed back or an option like in WMC so its your media and display how you want it.

Just tried what doozah mentioned by the Android app has also updated unfortunately.

@Luke far too many years ago to remember the media centre plugin, I was there, but my brain has removed that memory. I think we need to consider the functionality removal of this change rather than looking at long term history. The fact is, the previous view was working well for recordings, and the new view is not.

When consolidating the views, the existing view obviously was not considered which is kind of disappointing, to a) remove it without a forthcoming deprecation status, b) considering how users are actually engaging with the Live TV system.

I'm currently using the windows app, as most of my watching is Live TV which has been seriously impaired due to this un welcome change.

The only app that hasn't changed yet is the emby theater app if that gets changed I would have to spend the weekend searching for new software as this would be a deal braker in my household we don't like the slow tuning speed but got used to it as everything else was customisable how we like it. This sort of reminds me of win 8 the worst windows operating system were they wanted the os to be the same across devices live tv is different from other libraries and should be treated as such. We want our view back

They made a change to Theater, but it's still a tad 'busy' compared to how it was IMO. & NO detail options.

Please, bring the view back like it was there before. I am sure you have some other more significant things to implement than to remove existing functionality

imo, the best would be to bring your changes in incremental steps: Give the option to have your new way or like it was before

This change legitimately will make Emby unusable for me for recording. And I don’t understand why it was made! Anyone who wanted to view their recordings grouped by show only needed to select “Series”. Or use the other Recordings option that offers both Shows and Folders views. The “Recordings” view was the only way to see all the individual recordings at a glance. 
 

Thank goodness my AppleTV still shows the old Recordings view. Unfortunately AppleTV doesn’t offer much control to prevent an app from updating. As soon as I need any app updated, I’ll have to reenable updates for all of them.

Apple TV and Theater are still showing the correct individual recordings if it gets changed and no option to change back to individual recordings I will bin Emby as it is of no use to me anymore. Android and IOS is still with the new useless view

FireSticks have updated to v3.5.11. There is now a row of individual recordings but no detail/filtering options. It has been my habit to include runtimes in this view, due to IPTV idiosyncrasies, allowing me to determine the need to requeue at a glance. Is the intent to flesh this out a tad more?
