vincen 71 Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 Hi I just upgraded my Emby server with the new release that supports books library. I had already one books library setup in Emby.I have few questions regarding how books are now managed: It doesn't display any cover for books even if files have a cover for epub ? Works only with PDF files so far. It doesn't save read position ? If so, it's quite useles in its current state. Is it possible to do collections or organise by genres the books using folders ? I have created 2 folders with books in it but it's invisible in Emby, it lists books whatever the directory where they are. If I try to "play" any ebooks in the Android app, I get a "Not Found" error while it's working fine in Firefox and Chrome. I run the most recent version avalaible on Play Store for Emby (3.5.09). Thanks Vincèn

The app will launch the book using the Android os, so you need to have an application installed that can receive that and play it that way.

Kyouma 7 Posted October 3, 2025 Posted October 3, 2025 (edited) Hijacking this. I wanted to ask, if we could get some changes in regard of Manga. it will be .cbz Let us group the volumes in one entry instead of one for every volume. Maybe this needs something better than Open Library? Give us an option to use the first page of a volume as the cover. Usually it has better quality and is in the right locale. If that is even possible? Saving the read position is crucial, but that is probably already in work. What year should we put in the name? For Example Tokyo Ghoul was first released on 2011, but Open Library lists 2014, which would be the end of publishing. What is currently the best folder structure specifically for Manga with more volumes? This would be the desired cover Spoiler Only one entry for a book series would be more appealing Spoiler Edited October 3, 2025 by Kyouma

I have few ones in my phone but when I try to play (word and icon of button should be changed in interface for read or open) a book it just gives a little popup that says not found with an icon that is the one of the Gallery app in Android it should at least get a popup asking to select among the compatible apps available on the phone which one to use to open the file like other apps are doing.
vincen 71 Posted October 3, 2025 Author Posted October 3, 2025 Would it be possible also to add the metadata source of French National Library that has an API: https://api.bnf.fr/ It would be fantastic for books in french !
