4.9.1.80: ProcessRun 'extract-image' Process exited with code 1

After upgrading to 4.9.1.80 SingleImageExtractor is getting an error code from ffmpeg, and even though it's writing the extracted image it tries to do so again next time I run thumbnail extraction (perhaps because it thinks it failed?)

Attached is the output of running ffmpeg.

running

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/emby-server/lib:/opt/emby-server/extra/lib /opt/emby-server/bin/ffmpeg -y -ss 00:03:29.768  -f mpegts -threads 1 -i file:"/media/emby/Video/TV/Judge Judy (1996)/Season 17/Judge Judy (1996) - S17E106 - Blind Horse Vandalism ; Say Uncle  (copy 1).ts" -an -sn -threads 0 -vf "thumbnail=24" -frames:v 1 -update 1 -f image2 -b:v 100M "/var/lib/emby/cache/temp/fdd9e89a-3995-4578-beaf-07b8591b8495.jpg"

works as expected, specifying 1 frame, update, and automatic yes to prompts (probably only needed from the command line though?)

Hope that helps!

This isn't just for this one episode, it's happening for everything new, the logs are filling up with the errors:

root@loki:/var/lib/emby/logs# grep "SingleImageExtractor: ProcessRun 'extract-image' Process exited with code 1" embyserver-63894873600.txt| wc -l

Hi, can you please attach the complete emby server log? Thanks.

Sure! Log attached.

Keep up the good work, plex is a distant memory for me now! :)

This happened after recent update to the transcoder. We have removed the "failure" indication when logging this response - as you see it says "Process exited with code 1" rather than  "Process exited with code 1 - Failed

Nevertheless, I will raise it again and see if we can get it changed to 0

@nikkijay I have discussed this with the development team. The exit code 1 is not being treated as an error for the Single Image Extracts and is not being logged as such.

I would like to follow up on what you said earlier here:

I would not expect this to happen - re-extracting the image that it already has

Could you please enable debug logging on the server (Server Settings / Logs / Settings) and then restart Emby Server to get fresh logs and then run the Scheduled Task for Video Preview Thumbnail Extraction twice in a row - leave some time gap between and then download the embyserver.txt log and attach in a post here please

Thanks

Hey folks, thanks for looking into this, turns out it was completely my fault. Well, mostly :)

It's possible to restore multiple backups at the same time! And that's what I'd accidentally done, so the database was in a weird state and it's unsurprising that things got a bit confused. I've restored to a test system and installed from scratch, everything worked as expected.

Potential feature: perhaps lock out the backup restore UI if there's one currently getting restored? I doubt it's likely to happen to a load of folk except us ADHD brained though :)

Thanks again! Plex is a distant memory..,

So were restores being run in parallel from two different Emby client apps / devices ?

Same client, same device. I started one restore going, navigated away, went back to the restore backup page and there was no indication a backup restore was in progress and I was able to start a restore from a different backup while the original request was still in progress.

This has been done in the latest update to the Backup & Restore plugin - version 1.8.2
