transcode, multiple subtitle issue

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have an issue with transcoding on multi subtitles videos (mkv with subrip/SRT inside)

If I playback a tv show at home, I select my language subtitle before starting play back, all is fine, emby is doing direct play with the correct subtitles.

but if  I am away with a lower bandwith, with the same subtitle selection, I always have english (1st choice) subtitles.

I guess it is a transcode issue, so I attach the transcode log.

the only solution I have found is to remux the file removing all subtitles keeing my language subtitles.

Thanks for your help.

Try removing the sub you don't use.

You have 29 embedded subs.

I think its choking or the amount off embedded subs.

I usually do it the other way around, I extract any / all subtitles I want (for example English, English SDH and my own language) and save them as `.srt` files besides the media file.

That way I have the subs in a separate file if I need them, to adjust them or when I want to use another language I haven't extracted yet.
Usually I don't even both removing the subtitles unless I'm downscaling videos.

ok ok.

You propose a solution I already have.

My question was : is it possible to have the same behaviour on direct play and transcode.

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.
