Download / Play movies Restrictions not respected

Hello, first sorry for my english...

I have a little problem and i can't find the solution in the settings :

I have created an user accout for a friend. For this account i have unchecked the ability to play a media. I just want to allow him to download the file.

So, it works fine when he uses a PC, a mac or a smartphone he can't stream the file and there's only one option to download the file (if he tries, to read it,  there's a warning message). So it's good, it's what i want.

The problem is that if he installs the application Emby on a Shield, or a Amazon fire stick (for exemple) he CAN stream with this account. Nothing prevents from doing that. Why is there no restriction even though i checked the box ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Stéphane

I can confirm this behavior: AndroidTV app allows for playback even if user is not allowed media playback whereas Universal Android app honors playback permission and gives warning dialog.

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

Hello Ebr,

On the Fire TV there are actually 2 app : Emby and Emby for Fire TV.

With Emby For Fire TV the problem is the one i described above.

And indeed, there is no problem on the other app (Emby), it works perfectly.

(But i'm not sure the people i give the link to, will download the correct app, I want to be sure they don't stream the files).

Thank you.
