Search Sort Order

Any chance we could get a choice for the Search display order? Relevance seems pretty much random. Dropdown to Sort by Title, Date Added, etc would be really nice.

Hi, it’s based on search ranking with what the full text search determined was the closest match. We could apply secondary sorting to that but the ranking will have decimal places and therefore two items will almost never be equivalent.

Can you please show a specific example? Thanks.

I did several searches that didn't come close to what I was expecting. Let me try to figure out what I was looking for and I'll post the results.

@LukeFinally remembered...... I was looking for a movie called "The Witch" from 2015 to add to a Playlist. First searched for just Witch. Lots of returns. Searched for The Witch to narrow and even selected movies. Still had a number of results. What I didn't get is why would words with witch as just part of the name be listed before just the 2 search words THE and WITCH. What I was looking for is 2nd row, 3rd from the left. That's why I was asking for a sort option. At least it would narrow down where to look.

Oooh this is looking pretty good. Can't wait for 4.9 because some of my users have been complaining about this as well and your screenshot is showing a significant improvement.

You can always give the latest beta a try yourself.

@Lukecan correct me, but I think it's pretty close to an RC build now so any bugs you encounter will be there in the eventual stable release too if they are not reported.

Yep I have the Emby beta installed on my local machine to test here and there but since my machine is in use quite a lot I'd rather wait a couple of days until the release is deemed stable enough. :P

Well, that's 1 MORE reason I'm anxiously awaiting the update. Would make a really nice Christmas present.
